I had CEL come up for more than 5 years, but it used to disappear quickly after I fill the gas (I thought fueling the car with different brand was the culprit, so I used BP only). So last year 03/17 I asked my MBUS service tech to see why the CEL keeps on lighting up. He told me to change Cam Shaft solenoids and I got it replaced for $850.00. Now the CEL is coming up again off & on, the MBUS service is quoting me for $8065.00 to replace faulty balance shaft.

If this was a recall why did the owners of the motors affected get notified as we have with the airbags? The recall still has not been fixed. My car is in really good shape but I can not believe that you would rather lose a customer by not notifying people that believed in Mercedes Benz as a Luxury car. I would like to get car fixed and I know that there are many others out there with this same problem and did not get notification as the ones that had.

"Mercedes denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to the class action settlement to avoid the costs and risks associated with going to trial. U.S. District Judge Shelton E. Henderson granted preliminary approval to the deal in April."

One more balance complaint. Mercedes Benz LOST the class action lawsuit. So they have to pay a portion of the repair. Transmission is the second biggest problem. Stay tuned for another lawsuit.

2007 MB C230 272 balance shaft gears are sh*t. I was climbing a small grade and the chain just slipped around, threw out all codes on CEL, and shut down the motor. I was stuck 100 miles from home and at least 50 from any garage. I'm embarrassed to talk about it with my family, and cannot get pricing less than $4500k. The worst of it is it looks as though my car won't count in the class action as they say the engine serial number is "not within the range". What kind of stuff is that? Please someone tell me something good!

I have a 2007 C230 sport 6 speed manual. I went to a well known local Mercedes Benz mechanic to have my engine diagnosed in order to pass smog for my car registration. This is the first year I have had to smog my car. They find out after diagnosing my engine that my engine balance shaft is shredding and worn, basically falling apart. The mechanic tells me that I'm the 5th Mercedes with this make and model with the same exact problem in the last 3 months. He then proceeds to tell me that this part should never fail on your car, especially a luxury vehicle. He states that my car should run 150,000k miles and then have engine trouble, and it still shouldn't be that part that fails. The mechanic then informs me that the costs will run roughly $5500 when all is said and done and that all of the other plaintiffs in the last 3 months have filed claims to Mercedes Benz for manufacture failed parts and all were denied any help or relief. Keep in mind that my vehicle I have always maintenance on time and i have been the only owner, this car was well taken care of to have any engine problems for having 60k miles. I just can't believe that Mercedes will not take fault for this failing part that are costing their high paying customers a lot of hardships, and extremely high car bill repairs for such a new supposedly reliable vehicle. The Mercedes Benz auto body shop said to me that," they can not believe that this part and or vehicle has not been recalled as of yet". It is a shame that Mercedes has to put cheap parts in their cars that do not last, my entire family drove Mercedes, but never again will I purchase or support the way Mercedes Benz conducts business and composes its products.
