Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

30 Aug.16 took my 07 E350 with 29427 miles to the dealership because the check engine light came on and the car was hard starting. After arriving I informed the service writer the car had shut down while driving. We were proceeding through a busy major intersection when the car shut down. Luckily it started so we could safely exit the busy major intersection. After a diagnostic test was ran, I was informed the crankshaft hall sensor was defective. Additionally, the engine control unit, engine wiring harness, crank sensor and various other components are oil soaked. I notified Mercedes Benz to be told the car was out of warranty. Mercedes Benz should be held accountable for the unsafe defective materials they use. The above issues are a danger to the occupants and general public as well. The defective oil soaked wiring harness is can cause a fire. The car shuts down while driving is dangerous.

Hi my name is rosalinda munoz owner of a Mercedes Benz E350 2007 I always been loyal to Mercedes because I was in the be leave that they had safe cars but unfortunately with this vehicle I had a big problem I was driving in the freeway in the car just stop with a terrible odor of gas; I pull T the side of the road got out the car and call for help. The towing truck took my car to the mechanic than it was than when we find out that the this model and year of the car had problems with the fuel pump and many other problems. Called another towing truck to take it to Mercedes Benz dealer in monterey calif spoke with roy yamada wish he is the manager in that location they check the car and said that there wasn't any warranty in the vehicle that have to pay out of my pocket, I show him all the documentation from safe car.gov also known as NHTSA I printed out all the documentation saying that Mercedes Benz extended the warranty in this vehicles for 15 years unlimited miles regales the ownership of the car. Even dough I took all this documents to roy at Mercedes Benz at monterey calif dealer he didn't want to fix the car, he told me and my husband that he exposed this to the Mercedes Benz representative from the head quarters and they are not approving it wish I really be leave that they should with no hassle at all. At this point I have no car and Mercedes Benz its not responding the according to the warranty of the extra 15 years unlimited miles and regardless of the ownership. Please I really appreciate that you help me to take care this matter.

The front inner tires get cupping over the time, I have to replace them every 10,000 miles. All the suspension parts are new put still the problem going on. It is a manufacturing problem with the heavy engine get the load on the power train and with the time it losing and make the tires cupping from the inner side.

While driving and changing gears from first to second, at or around 10 - 20 RPM my engine became uncontrollable and jerked sporadically. I could not control the vehicle until it changed into 3rd gear and then began to drive as normal. The car does this repeatedly now until I feel it has become unsafe to drive. The jerking is random so I don't know when to expect it and what to do when it happens. It has caused me to veer off the road occasionally.

Every time the gas tank is filled 100% full (only until gas pump nozzle first click) and the car is being driven for less than 20 miles and parked, I can smell very strong gasoline odor from outside the car. I have tried to find the issue and lifted it up. What can be seen is about 1oz of gasoline puddle on rear undercover (underneath gas tank). Other than that, I can see leaked dried gasoline path on the side of the tank, which points to the location of the puddle. This string gasoline odor issue cannot be seen or smelled if the tank is filled only 3/4 of tank volume. This is issue has been reported to Mercedes Benz service at columbia, mo. However, they quoted $600 just to find the issue, even though this is clearly manufacturing defect, since hundreds of similar cases can be found at several forums and so many has been reported here.

6/29/14 traveling when check engine light came on. Stopped and looked under hood, did not see anything out of the norm, drove it home. Drove a few days later to dealership. Found intake manifold faulty and cam adj maginet. Not repaired-$3000 quoted. Drove it home where it remains. Searches on internet shows this defect is under investigation. Also car rides rough; all four wheels are bent due to regular road wear and tear. Both these issues could have caused catastrophic consequences. I am not the first owner of this mb. Were mb aware of these defects and failed to inform me prior to purchasing the E350? the manufacturer needs to remedy these defects.

Check engine light came on. Took the vehicle to the local dealer and they found codes 1200, 1208, P0016 and P0017. Worn balance shaft sprocket. Doing research online turns out there are hundreds and hundreds of affected mb customers. Mercedes knew of this problem as early as 2007 but has not publicly addressed this issue or issued a recall. The bill to fix this issue is over $4,000, some people report the dealer quoting them over $10,000. My price to fix this is $5,995. My complaint is that this is a known issue by Mercedes. Knowingly they installed, and kept installing, parts that wear out prematurely leaving customers with an unfairly large bill to correct their mistake.

The engine light came on and I brought my car into the local Mercedes dealer. The diagnosis result according to the service representative was a camshaft balancing rod problem and the estimate to replace the balancing rod was quote at $6500. I did subsequently look into this problem online and found that their are similar occurrences with this vehicle and the conclusion is that it is a manufacturing defect for this engine. The service representative agreed that it is too early for any engine to have this type of problem and called Mercedes Benz they decline to assist in this matter. Can NHTSA look into this problem and see if there is a problem with this engine? thank you

Took in vehicle for check engine light. I was told that one of the cam magnets needed to be replaced (advised to have all 4 replaced). According to service adviser this is a very common problem for 2007 and prior year E-class vehicles and that the cam magnets have been redesigned to fix this issue. The complete replacing of the 4 cam magnets was more than $600 for service (before taxes). The service adviser also stated the other problem this vehicle consecutively comes in for is a faulty gas tank that is prone to crack which required the gas tank to be replaced. Mercedes-Benz should clearly address the above issues on this vehicle.

Car was acting wield while driving at 55 or 65 mph on freeway for sometimes and suddenly engine got kill off completely on freeway 57 and I was almost got kill with this Benz. The car check engine light went on for a few days and then went off again and I don't know what is that means so I had the car scan check for problem but it showed nothing on computer. After the incident, I has it rescan again, and it showed a P0025 problem code pointing it to a faulty part "cam shaft retard on bank 2". on the next day I was googling to check out what is the P0025 code mean and then I had noticed that this type of faulty cam shaft part has been long award with many of the drivers. This is a very dangerous and very unsafe issue and I am filing a complain for this to the Mercedes manufacturer to have this resolve asap.
