I have a 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 that has 42,000 miles on it. The intake manifold cracked in my garage and liquids leaked all over garage. My car was one of the excluded vehicles in Ford class action and recall of cracked manifolds.

Problems with plastic intake manifold. The manifold which was replaced under recall cracked in the same location as the previous faulty manifold which caused the vehicle to overheat.

The manifold cracked in the same location, overheating the car for the second time. The intake manifold was made of plastic and was recalled. The new manifold was also made of plastic and over time it also failed. The consumer feels the dealer should have installed the new re-designed two piece, half plastic half metal manifold.

Recall regarding problems with plastic intake manifold. The original intake manifold was cracked at the front motor. Ford replaced the defective plastic manifold with another defective plastic manifold. The consumer requested reimbursement.
