cross member failure

I was having tires put on the rear of the car...The mechanic kicked the seized tire to get it off the rear driver's side and the Trailing arm broke off from the cross member.... If I'd have been driving this car, I could have been killed... If you try to go forward now the wheel turns 15 degrees to the left..... It's a mess.

I can't find any cross members and am wondering if there has ever been a class action for this problem...Everything else underneath seems in good shape... The cross member is deteriorated to the point of no return on both sides.... Car will be down a while I'm sure....
