- 1998 Grand Marquis Sedan - Shudder problem on this vehicle can be, any one of three issues reported or a combination. Problems seem to be reported in the 80-165,000 mile range, Fuel bodies and pump for transmission making a whining noise along with failed fuel injectors can all, be factors.

I first noticed the 3-4second shudder during mild accelerations sometimes going thru 77mph, but never at steady-state speeds. It runs fine during hard accelerations.
When it happens, it feels like you're on a freeway & you've hit those "wake-up" bumps on the shoulder. The vibration also shows up when traveling on mild grades, but only lasts for a few seconds. I put in premium gasoline, thinking it maybe muffled engine knock, but no luck.
When I put it in park & step on the brakes & gas at the same time, I can't duplicate the shudder. What's the problem?
