Just purchased a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis from CarHop used Car dealer. Test drive it prior to the purchase, test drive went well, it seemed like a real solid car. N0 sooner do I get it home and started feeling problems that I knew wasn't right. I knew for sure it was either shocks or struts..that was the most obvious issue. So I call carhop because it came with a warranty and I tell them... either want them to fix the car or I didn,t want it. One of the times I called the district manager answered the phone(he just happened to be at the Burnsville location) and was extremely unhelpful and down right rude to us about repairing it.

They argued and passed the buck back and forth So they tell me to bring it to one of the mechanics that the contract through, Apple Valley Car Clinic have them check it out and let them know what needed to be repaired. Anyway after 2 days of arguing... Apple Valley car clinic called and told me that they did the diagnostic on it and they had 3 issues....the Steering Gear, the Sway Bar Link or linkage, and the Shocks. So carhop gets the bill and decides that they wont pay that car repair shop to do the repairs because "they are raping us with the estimates lately" and send me to another shop down the road from the Burnsville carhop location where we purchased the car.

Meanwhile sticking me with having to pay the diagnostic fee of $80.00 to the shop that she refused to pay for repairs, the shop she sent me to in the first place. So I bring it to Brookes in Burnsville..mind you I am missing time from work to do all of this....I have to call Brookes to find out whats going on and he says" just got the parts its in the garage now" he tells me that" they are replacing the shocks and the sway bar linkage bushings and should be done today. I asked him why did the first place I brought it to say that the steering gear needed replacement or repair? He says the steering box is fine. On my way home from picking it up from Brookes I made a hard left..actually did a U turn and I hear a clunk in the front end. So I stop and had a "mechanic " take it for a drive and he said its and upper strut.

So I go home tell my husband what the 3rd mechanic said...my husband said it doesn't have struts. So I am confused ...you would think shocks, sway bar, and steering gear would all be for lack of a better word..."linked" together? Bad attempt at a joke. The steering on a car is not a light issue. It is vehicle safety and I really hope carhop can stand behind their 4 year warranty and more importantly that my family will be safe in this car!
