4th gear out on transmission

I was shocked to have a dealer maintained car, a gentle mature driver, end up with a transmission problem out of warranty.

I could not get any help from Ford Motor company; there were no area representatives in the area of a major San Francisco area city.

I am now in the market for a new car. Without extended warranty coverage I cannot trust Ford Motor company to do the right thing. That of course should not be a necessary cost. Japanese cars have shown that reliability can be achieved if manufacturers pay attention to detail in the production process.
