The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. While driving 40 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering assist and service advancetrac warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to be coasted to the side of the road. The contact powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The contact called stoltz Ford of St. Mary's at (814) 781-1010 (located at 988-S St marys St, St marys, pa 15857) and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,450.

My 20 year old son was driving our 2010 on the street when all of a sudden the car lost its power steering. He had a very difficult time steering the car and was very close to crashing the vehicle. He was in a high traffic area at the time of thei issue. He could have injured himself or died because of this problem, he was able to, with great difficulty, get the car off of the road. He was very lucky!! this is a serious safety issue. The vehicle had 2 lights that displayed: 1. service power steering now and 2. service advancetrac. It is still displaying on the dash and there is no power steering, therefore the vehicle can not be driven.. it is my understanding that this is a very expensive repair!! this car is only 8 years old and is in excellent condition. I have been told that the 2011 Milan had the same problem and that there was a recall for the issue. I have also been told that the 2010 has the exact same system (electric power steering) as the 2011, but it was not recalled. How can that be"? is it less of a safety issue based only on the year" so it's ok for 2010 drivers to be injured but not the 2011 owners. I am a single mother and do not know how to deal with problem. Please look into it asap.

Power steering completely stopped working while mid turn almost caused an accident. Another car veered off the road to avoid. I have done research and this seems to be a trend with the 2010 Milan. For some reason the 2011 is recalled but not 2010. We have had multiple Ford vehicles over the years and I am grossly dissatisfied that this issue has been reported with no recall action this is dangerous

My wife was leaving her parking stall in a parking garage when the power steering quit working. She was able to stop before hitting anything. This issue is well known to occur on certain Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion. Ford offered to fix 2011 and 2012 cars but not 2010's which has the same system and fault. I would like Ford to fix it.

My 2010 Mercury Milan power steering just stopped. The vehicle was stationary. I have researched this problem with other Milan's for the same and there are many complaints for this issue. People have research this and found that there power steering assembly is the sam as the recalls on the 2011 and 2012. I contacted Ford and they couldn't give specific information regarding the recall other than the may have been assembled at a different plant. They may have been, but it pretty obvious that it is more likely the power steering part is faulty. It cost at least a couple thousand of dollar to repair which is a terrible hardship because most people have to have a car to go to work so they can live. I feel that this issue should be vigorously. Because for Ford just ignore. Is wrong. Thank goodness I was not driving my car others were not that lucky

After having my oil changed and tires rotated, my 2010 Mercury Milan began to pull to the right. After a few days, the (service power steering now) indicator came on, and after turning the car off and back on, there was no power steering. This is absolutely a safety issue. Ford is not recalling the 2010 model even though the electric power steering components are identical. A very expensive repair, and don't understand why 2011 Mercury Milan owners are more valuable than 2010 owners. Feels like discrimination. On a fixed income, don't know how I am going to pay for repairs. Please Ford, 2010 Mercury Milan owners need you.

Heading to work. Advance track May. Pops on. Then service power stearing. Steering wheel felt a little tight. But it was still drivable. Made it to work, once shift was over. I went to back out and the wheel wouldn't turn at all. Come to.find out this has been a big problem. On the 2010's. all.seem.to.be happong with an the last 12-18 months. Along with the previous (furl rank recall, and the current air bag recall.) this things should be taken off the road! that's too many major issues. Come on Ford! I guess it will take a big accident for anything to really happen.....

I was in a parking lot and when I turned on ignition and power assist fault light lit up on panel and when tried to back up had no power steering. Turned car off and back on numerous times but same lights and loud warning sound. Tried to drive out of parking lot but service advance trac light came on and couldn't turn steering wheel to drive car. Had to leave my car at restaurant and call for a ride back to work. There is a recall for 2011 Mercury Milan but not 2010. This makes no sense. Someone is going to get injured or even die if not recalled for repairs. I just got this car paid for and now having problems.

Well for starters its throwing a code saying that I have a small fuel leak some where and the 2 is one day I had a flat and after I changed the tire the power steering went out and not only that but the car has a heavy vibration in it and while driving it want to take off either left or right which ended up with me running off the road twice already

My steering wheel completely went off in the freeway I got a sign on the dashboard to service steering wheel now and then my steering wheel stopped working as I was driving in the freeway. After getting this fixed less then a year later the same issue happened as I was driving my steering wheel just locked and it was very difficult for me to steer my car to a safe place. This is the second time this happened the first time being on the freeway and this second time driving in the streets both times it happened while I was driving from one second to the next I got a message to service steering wheel now and then my steering wheel automaticly locked and it made it extremely difficult to manuever the car to a safe place. Both times my children were in the car and it was a very scary thing to go through.

Driving up icy curve up hill, service power steering now came on. Vehicle lost all steering locked and ran off road. Now it's in a super human steering mode in my driveway where its been since the incident. Was being driven by my daughter with my other 4 elementary students on icy roads in Alaska. Ford is willing to kill families I see. 72,000 miles. Called dealer and said send me all information from my scan. Never heard back from kendall Ford in anchorage.

Having problems with power steering and electronic stability. Wet road the car would slide on curve roads in snow the car looses power and won't barely moves RPM go down. The steering wheel won't move in reverse sometimes. Tires get worn out every 4 to 6 weeks wires show to tire on the in side. Steering don't lock when car is off and key out. Car sales me to take key out while its in gear. And car can be shift in gear and steer when key is not in. Didn't do this when I got it. Once and a while power train light comes on and its stuck in low gear.

My wife was driving the car in the parking of a busy shopping center when unexpectedly she was unable to steer the car as the steering wheel locked up on her. She almost crashed but luckily was able to avoid the car as she was attempting to make a turn. Received two errors (1) service power steering now and (2) service advancedtrac. From what I'm researching it seems that there is a recall for the 2011 model but the 2010 even though these are the same components...? car has 76K miles.
