You know how you hold the key during those few moments when the engine is just starting? , If I let go of the key before the engine actually starts, and then I immediately try again to start it, it will turn over, but it will not start; it's like there's no fuel. My mechanic said he has heard of this problem. He suggested that I get out of the car and use the keypads on my ignition key (not the keyless entry on the outside of the door) to lock and then unlock the door, and then get back in the car and lock the door; the car may start. Sometimes I have to repeat this (getting out, locking and unlocking the door, getting back in and locking the door) for 10 or 15 minutes before the car starts. I have waited several hours after it did not start, and then tried to start it. However, I have learned that it will not start just because time has elapsed - I have to do the lock/unlock with the keypad before it will start. Neither my mechanic nor the Lincoln dealer here in Dallas has been able to identify/solve the problem.
