Caliviar Ford in chesapeake va. Refused to complete recall of engine cooling fan electronic fuse due to melted wiring harness. This fault was caused be a previous recal (campaine id number : 01I0090000) (visability: Defrogger system:windshield:controls:wiring) causing the attached electrical connectors to melt. I just spent $2000 and replacet car with new motor because the motor blowed up due to another factory recall id# 00V367000 engine and engine cooling. I purchased this car with over 100,000 miles and this work was never performed and I did not receive the recal until after 100,000 miles.

Vehicle caught on fire in same way as mentioned in NHTSA recall 00-V-367-000/ manufacturer's recall 00S44. Consumer stopped to have timing belt repairs estimated. While walking away from vehicle consumer heard chirping, and smoke was coming from vehicle. Consumer's hand was burned while reaching to unplug power plug. Consumer contacted manufacturer about a recall not received. Manufacturer would not offer remedy because vehicle was over 100,000 miles for extended warranty. However, at time when recall was sent out vehicle had between 96,000-98,000 miles. Manufacturer did admit that recall notice might have gone to another address, but they still will not cover it.

I recieved a recall notice in the mail concerning my 1995 Mercury Mystique. When I asked the dealer what the recall involved the service advisor said it was to replaced a fuse for the cooling fan motor. After taking the car to the dealer and following their inspection they said the cooling fan would require replacement under the recall. My concern is that on your web site under the recall database for my car there is a recall listed for 1994 thru 1995 Mystique with the 2.5 V6 engine. My car has the 2.0L 4 cylinder engine. I called Ford 1-800 customer service number and they told me that this recall affects all 2.5 V6 and 2.0L 4 cylinder engines on 94/95 Mystique. This does not match the information posted in your database.

Problem with fan motor led to our taking vehicle into dealer. Their inspection revealed severe deterioration to wiring harness insulation which service manager said might lead to a fire hazard. Ford area rep contacted and offered $1,500 payment toward $2,500 bill. This all took place yesterday, June 10, 1999. I did not authorize any replacement to be done pending further conversation with Ford and request that they replace defective wiring harness at no charge to me. Please also note that in June 1998, I completed and filed another vehicle owner's questionanaire, this time having to do with defective wiring relating to the ABS system. I received no response from that from dot or Ford. This problem, having to do with defective weatherproof covering on the 22 pin electrical connector that controls ABS and traction control circuits and causes inadvertent braking. I believe these are problems that need the attention of your Agency before injuries or fatalaties take place.
