the head gasket on ford (mercury) for about the first half of the 90's, absolutely sucks. at 45k miles, thats just barely broken in, the head gasket blew, so i did some research. many MANY people reported this problem, some of which had to replace the entire engine. do not buy anything with a ford 3.8 liter v6 engine in it. its not worth the trouble. i had just bought this car too, with 38k miles on it, figuring it'll last me awhile.
