I was driving on the interstate at 70mph when I heard a loud noise under the hood. Within seconds the red paint turned black in the hood's center. As I attempted to get to the shoulder, small debris was falling from my car. Pillars of dark black smoke obstructed my view. I was able to negotiate the traffic and get off the freeway. I immediately turned off the vehicle and ran to a safe distance. Within a minutes the interior was fully engulfed in flames. When the fire department arrived the car was a total loss.
