CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 Nissan Altima has a trend of engine & transmission problems.

Excessive oil consumption is the main problem reported by owners. Nissan did a recall back in 2006 for oil consumption due to bad piston rings, but many owners report to us that the recall didn't fix the problem. The dealer only had to check the oil consumption rate. Typically 1 qt per 1,000 miles is "acceptable" per OEM standards ... that's a lot of oil!

The 2006 Altima also has a defect trend of CVT transmission failure showing up around the 100,000 mile mark.

It's an expensive repair at over $2,000 average repair cost. For more information see Nissan Altima CVT defect info on NissanProblems.com.

I noticed a large amount of rust/holes forming under my 06 Nissan Altima with 80K on it. It's all in the floor boards, driver and passenger sides. In first noticed it back in the summer of 2014....a few months after I bought it from a Nissan dealership. They said they couldn't do anything. I saw the news today about the same issue I noticed. We need a recall for safety. Cause it will become one. I will sue if my foot goes thru the floor.

I bought a brand new 2006 Nissan Altima 7 years ago.ever since I own it, I have bought 5 sunvisors; (3 passengers) (2 driver)... its insane how just by turning the visor to one side it breaks from the top portion of the roof..the dealer does not replace just the part where it breaks (where the bolts fasten) (is like a triangle plastic part where it breaks very easy).. the dealer only gives you 30 days warranty, the thing is the visors break before warranty expire or right after...and have to buy a new one at full price the price for a sunvisor is crazy, $208.58 @united Nissan in las vegas, nv. I asked the customer service rep why so expensive he said "we get different prices every month"..I said last time I paid $115 now is $208.58?!!! bottom line, Nissan needs O make "flexible sunvisor & replace them if they break", after all its "safety" we are talking about when driving, specially driving West when the sun sets!. thanks you for your time and concern [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
