Dashboard has a high glare on it. You cannot see out of windshield unless you have something on the dash to cover dashboard. I have not been able to drive this car for years. I have to drive it now as prices are so high on Gas, groceries, Insurance, and doctor co-pays I had to sell my Hyundai to afford to live, and I have to have my Nissan. I am upset that a recall has not been made to date for GA residents and other states, ONLY FLORIDA. I have kept this car due to sentimental reasons. Hell, you can't sell it with this issue. I purchased it in 2014 to help my son out. He is deceased and I refuse to let it go. I have to drive it now and at my age 66 and disabled, I should not have to put up with this issue. It is a direct Safety issue and very dangerous. I have no other alternative than to drive it starting today. Please do something about this. The smell alone is toxic....

The dash is fading and a crack is forming on the passenger side. We got a lot of miles before the problem manifested due to keeping car in a garage, installing dark window tint, and use of sunshades while parked. We own other cars and none of them are fading and cracking in the same manner.

The dashboard started to melt. I am not sure when started but had a small mark on curve of dash by the steering column. Now this summer the whole dashboard is melting from the window to the steering column. It is squishy and sticky. Protective screening does not work. Tried covering with towels then white undershirt. This helps a little but leaves a white residue on dash. Looks awful. Will get pictures to upload.

This is ridiculous and an obvious defect in this car. I live in senior apartment building and park in lot. None of the other brand cars are melting only my Nissan.

Dashboard melted near the the windshield. Basically all the way across from driver to passenger side. It solidified and shined. It was very annoying because there was a reflection on the inner windshield while I drove. Never had an issue like this on any other vehicle I had ever owned.

I live in Mobile Alabama and this is where I bought my Altima Coupe in 2008. It was new and I really loved it. The main issue that grinds my nerves is the dash board. It is literally melting away. And the sun or head lights can hit on it a certain way and almost render you blind.

My second major issue is the malfunctioning door locks.

Dashboard is melting and creates a big problem with glare. More than that, it is releasing fumes that may be toxic and carcinogenic. I can't imagine how this could go on like this with so many people complaining about it. I am hoping to get it covered but that still does not take care of the fumes.

This now seems to be a known issue to Nissan and Altima owners. Back in 2013 I noticed the Dashboard was soft and sticky. Took it to the dealer and they said that it was not their problem since i was out of warranty and it must be something i did. Said i would be up to me to pay for the replacement. That didn't work with me since i had taken care of the car like a baby, using only Nissan approved cleaners inside and out. After months of calling and e-mailing Nissan corp and visiting the dealers. Nissan finally agreed to replace the dashboard for free to avoid me having to report them to bbb. Now I see they have settlement going on in FL and noticed my dashboard is getting soft and sticky again. Not sure if i want to deal with this crap again.

I do not remember a date or the time when this problem happened. However, the car exterior looks very nice; but no one can clean or even touch the dashboard, for it is melting, sticky, and makes dirty anything that eventually gets in contact with it. I'd like to stir at everybody's attention that TOYOTA, less than two (2) months ago, just recalled the 2007 Camry for the same problem, so Nissan might be able to do the same tor its customers.

Altima SL 3.5L

Dashboard started getting sticky to the touch, and there is no way to clean it. Everything sticks to it. Now I have hairline cracks showing up on both sides of the console going from the dashboard all the way down to the shift area. It is disgusting. My car is always kept in the garage. Nissan evidently used faulty materials for the dashboard. I live in Houston, where it is hot and humid, which seems to be exacerbating the issue. I love my car and take good care of it. Nissan has some responsibility here to fix this. I see the class action suit is for Florida only. Have you ever been to Houston in August? We've got Florida beat by a long shot. Nissan, please do something about this!

Altima SE 3.2L V8

We purchased a used 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe in October 2015. On the first really hot day, here in Louisiana, there was a sheen across the dash. Within a few days the sheen had turned sticky then it looked as if it were melting. We contacted Nissan and were told to come in so they could take pictures. I was even given a name and number for contact at Corporate. At first, I thought they were going to take care of our melting issue. However, I was mistaken. Nissan said they could not help. The dashboard is not only an annoyance, but a hazard. The glare from the dash onto the windshield makes seeing incredibly dangerous!!

Altima 2D

  • Automatic transmission

While my car does have a decent number of miles, I do take good care of the car. I use a windshield shade as I lived in FL for 4 years and now in Louisiana, which both places see extreme sunshine. I noticed that a sticky film residue developed on the dash. It progressively got worse and now is spreading to the window when the heat is used. I am furious that this happened and even more furious to hear nissan is doing nothing about it. Its so dangerous!!!!!! Our family has always bought nissans but after this go-round we are done dealing with Nissan.

Altima 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission

I have never had a dash to crack and trade in cars around 120,000 miles. The dash got sticky and shiny first and then I started seeing cracks which spread all over. I have caulked and now covered with a mat but want it replaced. I currently have only 80k miles; started seeing this about 60k miles. Nissan should cover this at no charge.

Altima SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

My 2008 Nissan Altima dashboard starting melting about 2 years ago. Clearly this is faulty equipment on Nissan's part. Nissan refused to fix the problem and thinks I should pay for at least half. I do not feel I should. The problem is the melting dashboard creates a glare when the sun hits it and that glare will either get me killed or I may kill someone. I have to drive very careful and sometimes I do not see objects until the last minute.

I would like Nissan to stand by their product. I have bought 2 cars from them, this one is brand new and it has the most problems so far.

Altima S 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 92,000 miles

I was not aware that many Altima owners sustained the same problem. At first, I saw the thread line on the side of the vents but later, I began to view more lines. Then eventually, cracks, shiny like gloss on the dashboard. I was not aware of the complaints and lawsuit until I received a notice of class action settlement in the mail. I was planning to replace my dashboard next year because the cracks and stickiness from the material are becoming more, and more less tolerable. What should be my next suggestion with this problem and is it hazardous to someone's health?

Altima Coupe 3.5L Se

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

My 2008 Altima Coupe, 3.5 SE that I have taken extremely good care of has a dashboard issue. It is cracking like a spiderweb and little plastic pieces are chipping off. This is a very clean car and, though I live in Florida, it has been garaged or covered at home and work for the entire time I've have had it.

It looks like it will cost over a thousand dollars to have fixed as the dashboard must be entirely replaced. It totally devalues the car and looks horrible. Apparently others have had the same problem but Nissan does not care. Unbelievable, as I would never buy another one if I have to pay for this ridiculous repair. Very disappointed.
