The paint on my car started peeling off about 6 years ago and has gradually gotten worse. Now its coming off all over the top. I have seen multiple Nissan Altimas with the same problem. Why is there not a recall for it when there is for the other Nissan vehicles. Clearly there is an issue with their paint.

I had my car professional cleaned and waxed and the paint on the roof peeled terribly - in several places there is a large jagged strip of paint missing. The paint is also peeling in other areas in spots but not as significantly as the roof. The roof peeling is very noticeable. Rust is forming too. I called the dealer (twice) and left a message for the service manager but received no call back. I planned to buy a second Nissan Altima in a few years but no longer plan to do so!

The paint looks really bad. If you wash your car the paint chips. Cold weather it bubbles up. What a mess.

Noticed rust, mostly surface flakes, all over the car. It was described as flakes that occur in transit (train sparks). One area of rust penetrated through the clearcoat and paint and began forming a rust bubble. This was identified in the trunk area right by the license plate area. The dealership indicated they will paint the defect as part of the 3 year warranty. What concerns me as a new car buyer is the poor transit conditions that would allow rust flakes to occur, the poor quality checks by the dealership prior delivery of the car and the poor quality control from the factory that would allow a rust defect to form so early in the vehicles life. Nissan has boasted about product quality and state of the art initiatives, yet I find the 2014 Nissan Altima a disappointment as it seems very cheap in quality. I understand a broad statement like this needs to be supported with facts and examples, so here are a few; the seams between rear bumper and body are poorly fitted, the door handles are loose, the paint process seems to have created a low integrity paint process where paint chips easily, the quality of the steering wheel leather wrap is cheap and rips easily, the satelite radio system cuts out and shuts off, the fit of fenders and front bumper is poor, the fitted lines of doors is not consistent. If I could go back in time and not buy this car I would. Total disappointment.

Noticed that there were two spots on the hood of my car where the paint had "crackled" and the bare metal was exposed. The paint was flaking away. There were no dents, dings or scratches anywhere just cracked, chipping, and missing paint. I contacted the dealership and scheduled an appointment to have it looked at. They looked at it and immediately agreed that it was an issue with flaws in the paint job on the car. They arranged for the entire hood to be repainted. I was without my car for a week.
