Altima S 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 55,000 miles

I purchased the vehicle certified pre-owned at Autonation Ford Scottsdale AZ. I have taken it in under the warranty and out of warranty for a vibration you feel on the passenger side. The RPM gauges bounce up and down as well as speedometer. I was advised it was running to lean. I have found 2 times a near death experience when accelerating from a light the car will shift itself from automatic O/D to S mode and the car will lunge downward and engine racing where causing 2 times a fierce rear end collision into me as could not get out of the way!

  • CVT transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I noticed the transmission had trouble finding the correct "gear". First it would make noise and seem to downshift. Then if I was on a downgrade it would get loud and downshift very quickly. It would jerk enough to jar you. I kept noticing the transmission vibrating more and more and the CVT would hold onto gears unless I hit the accelerator. I took it to a dealership who had a technician drive it. While he drove and I was in the passenger seat it vibrated so bad I could feel it but the technician said there was no loss of power and it was fine. The rental Nissan Altima I was given had more miles on it and did not vibrate or downshift. I was told bring it back if it occurs again. And that the chip was updated with the latest fix and if there was a problem it would take care of it.

Well the traffic circle I pass ever day has a mild incline and the car jerks so hard you would think the transmission is going to fail. I don't believe Nissan will admit this problem. I bought the car new and it was garage kept and well maintained. The truth is I would like to get rid of this car and never get another Nissan. The transmission is unfixable and worse still is the fact that Nissan will not admit the problem.

Altima SL 2.5

  • CVT transmission
  • 4,600 miles

I first noticed when it was minus 6 degrees while driving to airport. Then on my return a week later at 16 degrees. Still there but not as bad since its warmer.

Update from Feb 8, 2016: Transmission vibration is now starting at about 1200 rpm to 2000 more so in the cold weather, and when going down hill coasting, I had it to dealer last winter of course they couldn't find anything. It looks like round two I had 4300 miles then now I have about 8500 now.T am going to go to a different dealer
