Altima SV 2.5L 4-cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 55,000 miles

Bought the car in late 2014 cash, was my first car out of college and had some money saved up. CVT is beginning to fail at 60k. It started with a faint stutter while accelerating between 35-40mph and is continually getting worse, the entire car jerks and vibrates for about 3-4 seconds. With additional people in the car its even worse. The service person at the dealership verified that he felt the vibrations but told me only if the "code" is triggered will they replace the transmission. The car is already a few hundred miles above the 60k warranty and i expect it to fully fail maybe in the next 20k miles.

This will be the last Nissan purchase and i will make it my duty to inform others to never purchase a nissan as well.

Altima 2.5L

  • CVT transmission

Transmission gets lost around 1250 rpms trying to figure out what gear it should be in. Studders, trying to figure out what to do. Very annoying.

Altima SV 3.5L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 6,000 miles

This car has been having transmission problems since about 12 months after I got it. The gears seem to slip and the transmission stutters and seems to lose power almost to a stall and then kicks back up again. This is constant while driving to the point I have to hit the gas to avoid it.

Altima SL 3.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 8,000 miles

Several times at low speed the tranny would seem to get confused if it wanted to upshift or remain at current gear. I'd have to gas it to force it to shift, the car never stalled but several times it shuttered enough to feel like it was going to die completely. When I took car in for maintenance the customer service rep said it is not unusual to have those problems but they'd check it out. Of course they found no issues and nothing was fixed. The issue has not occurred for a few months so maybe overtime the problem resolved itself, but I'm guessing it will come back.
