$6,500.00 to repair my 2008 Frontier Transmission. No warning just died. I still owe money on this and Nissan could care less. NEVER INFORMED IN ANY WAY OF ANY ISSUES WITH NISSAN OR THAT THEY KNEW IT WAS AN ON GOING PROBLEM. I purchased the truck with 88,000 miles drove for 3 years, NEVER ONCE RECIEVED ANY INFO FROM NISSAN ABOUT ANY ISSUES STEMING FROM THEIR CRAP. NO Recalls, NO notices, ABSOLUTELY NO INFO FROM NISSAN. And their response..sorry. BullS… I now pay payments to my credit union and must keep insurance on a piece of crap, that cost more to repair then value. Not that my NIssan does not look brand new, always took care, changed oil regular, drove it just like what I am a granny. I treated this like it was my baby, and now brand new looking piece of crap sitting in my drive way. Just driving along, stopped at light, go to pull off, no forward motion, drop into lower gear barely getting off road. Shut off engine, NEVER STARTS AGAIN. TOWED TO GARAGE, TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR SHOT!!!!!!

Would never buy a Nissan again. Should have gotten a Toyota or maybe a different year. Stay away from this year and seems like a few others... Wish I would have researched before buying it used. Nissan does not stand behind their products like Toyota. Would not recognize design/engineering flaws and make them right.

My vehicle fell into the year that the radiator seals were inadequate to keep the coolant from mixing with the transmission fluid, since the transmission line runs through the radiator. I had a complete transmission re-build and replacement radiator at a very hefty cost. I have little hope that Nissan will help cover any of the costs due to the mileage of the vehicle and the fact I didn't get it repaired at a Nissan dealer. I called their customer support and they directed me to a litigation website that had absolutely nothing to do with my problem. I'm disappointed in Nissan and will not be a repeat customer.

We purchased this vehicle from O'Daniel Honda in Omaha, Nebraska as a used pickup on January 5, 2017, Never having a Nissan before we thought maybe they just ran kind of rough! It continued to run very rough, took it to our local mechanic and he discovered that the radiator fluid had gotten into the transmission, ruining the transmission. Upon further investigation, we discovered that Nissan has had this problem with several of their models. It is going to cost us upward of $4000 for the fix. Are there any options for us with Nissan? Any help wpuld be appreciated. Thank You!

I have been a fan of Nissan up until this point will never purchase another.I bought my truck brand new off the local dealership lot. My first brand new vehicle and Christmas to me. They didn't seem to care when I discovered the problem IT was over the warranty. They charged me $100 buck just to diagnose. They lost my business plus free advertisement. Its sad for so many to have such an expensive vehicle they can't drive!!!

Trans started to slip,(specially when on o/d), re-engaging becoming abrupt and stepped more and more, noise and rattling coming from underneath carriage, dangerous and annoying. It is known that reports of coolant fluid with trans mix has develop transmissions problems, Nissan has acknowledge the radiator problem and recalled it, but has not addressed the main problem, the trans.

transmission failure

What happened:

Noticed shudder between 3rd and 4th. Knew from clubfrontier.org that this could happen.

What I did:

I took it to the dealer immediately to see if they would help cover the repair.

What they did.

-charged me $120 for an assessment -quoted repair of truck. repair quote: --$2500 to replace radiator --$950 to flush transmission --$7500 to replace transmission if that did nt work. -Would not take my truck in on trade even though I offered to buy a new pro4X then and there.

What I did:

1. Got mad at sales manager. He went on and on about keeping me as a loyal Nissan customer, but would not even take my truck in on trade....Loyalty is a 2 way street....getting mad did not help but was cathartic. I explained to him how words are meaningless bereft of actions that support them. 2. Took truck home, paid $120 diagnostic fee. 3. Decided to do backyard mechanic flush. Did not want to flush an old transmission with high pressure and caustic cleaners from power flush and drain and fill method did nt seem very effective to me. 4. Bought $200 worth of castrol import ATF. ~30L 5. Flush transmission by: --Disconnecting tran pump outlet and put into large bucket. --Add new fluid into transmission dipstick tube --Turned truck off and on a few times while I added fluid the pump removed fluid faster than it could take it in via the fill tube (its a pretty small diameter tube) --Added fluid until it was coming out clean (somewhere around 26 L or so for me). 6. Parked truck on a hill overnight. This either filled up the torque converter or burped out some air so had to add another 1 L or so.

Had to top off fluid once after that it must settle a little bit more. Its a pain to check the level with the fluid being so clear. Have not had any issues shifting since. I plan on replacing the radiator soon as I use the truck to plow otherwise the air cooler would suffice I believe.

While this was a negative experience it was good in opening my eyes to doing more of the work myself, still kinda pissed at Nissan was planning on buying a new rogue but now will likely go for another brand small SUV because of the sour taste this left in my mouth.

I have a 2008 Nissan Frontier LE. I bought it brand new. My Transmission just went. I was driving and thought I hit the awake bumps on the side of the road. It kept happening. I haven't had it fixed yet, but have been quoted anywhere between $3000 and $4000. I'm gutted. When I read other Nissan drivers have experienced the same thing with out a recall it really got me angry. Nissan has lost this guy.

The radiator failed on my 2008 Nissan frontier causing the transmission to fail. The engine light came on for the first time and with in an hour it stalled in the middle of a busy street. I did not have the money to pay for this unexpected cost, and I think its wrong of Nissan that they don't send a letter to every owner. They are sneaky and just wait to see what mileage you have by the time it dies so they can charge you a co-pay! I don't think I will ever buy a Nissan again. Crappy parts and crappy job at being responsible. Finally took it in to get fixed and paid $2900. Nissan should pay every person back but they don't.
