Maxima owners report spending $3,000 to replace the transmission, typically around when the odometer hits 100,000 miles.
There's a class action lawsuit filed in late 2011, & it is still in the "discovery" stage. Apparently, these things take time ... far too much time.

I am a forensic consultant that has examined the subject vehicle which was involved in a serious frontal collision with an approximate 32 mph longitudinal delta V. the driver was properly safety belted but the frontal air bags failed to deploy. This is a serious defect affecting public safety.
"tamara inflators" seat belts didn't lock or light did not come on. Smashed body all the way to back seat bottom to ground. Engine was idling very high felt/sound as if we were going 60 but only was going 40. No air bags came on. Brakes grinding. Back window blew out and tires flat in back.. windows slow on drivers side. When the sheriff Tahoe hit us at 80mph on U.S. 40 greenfield in was in the shop at J&M truck an trailer on the West side of indianapolis having the oil leaked fixed and tires all fixed and rotors and lights by [xxx] a couple months prior. I had my little girl in the back seat as well where sheriff hit and ran. I uploaded a before and after picture. VIN#[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I have a recall notice from Nissan but my auto dealer left our area. Nissan told me to take it to another town that is at least 70 miles away. I cannot get it there. They will not pay another non-Nissan local dealer to do the work. What can I do?
TL * the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the air bag sensor illuminated intermittently. The front passenger side air bag sensor displayed that it was off when a passenger was occupying the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

I'm was driving when my tire popped and my car went across all three lanes, across the median, then across three lanes of oncoming traffic into some woods and hit a tree head on. All side airbags deployed but the front on didn't, which concerns me since I hit a tree head on. The side airbags left bruises on my face and neck injuries.
I was rear-ended so hard it catapulted me into the vehicle in front, my airbag didn't deploy. My face hit the steering wheel, I have a bulge and bruising above my right eye and right cheek.
