4000 miles after replacing a stretched timing chain £750 (common fault)I started to have problems starting the car, The key would not turn in the the ignition because of the steering lock, If you jiggled the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key eventualy it would turn beyond the first position and everything was OK, If you did not turn the key back beyond the accessory position then starting was not a problem but if the key was turned fully off then you had to jiggle for another 10 min, As the car had been recalled to check the steering wheel bolts I asked the dealer to look at steering lock,

I now need a new "Ignition switch unit" £462 fitted (dealer part only at over £250) Anyone else had this problem and is there a cheaper fix? I am starting to spend more than the car is worth and dreading the next expensive repair, Nissan should have named the car turkey rather than Micra
