Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Belt tensioner pulley assembly gets rusted and breaks over time causing the serpentine belt to break during driving possibly breaking power steering pump belt in the process. Steering will freeze or become extremely difficult causing steering failure and an accident.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while traveling 65 the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be driven to the dealer where it was found that the engine had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that there was a small delay in accelerator response time. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 09V169000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 166,280 and the current mileage was 166,311.
