I purchased my SUV new in 2004 I have followed all required dealer maintenance. Last year the SUV began to seek to stall or ignore the accelerator. If I pressed the gas to the floor the SUV would not move, then suddenly it would take off. It seems to have this issue randomly and even seems to stall as I make left turns across traffic lanes. Today was scary, I need my vehicle to get to work, but I'm afraid to drive it. There are hundreds of consumer issues on line all with the same issue. Nissan extended warranties for this issue but never notified most of us. Like Toyota will there have to be fatalities in order for your Agency to force a recall and hold them accountable? clearly Nissan knew the cvt transmissions were faulty, are faulty. I don, T expect a response but something needs to be done. Protect us.

The first time that this issue happened I was driving down a mountain with lots of curves when the car lost power. I would press on the gas pedal but the car would not respond as I started to head into a curve all the lights in my center console came on and the car shut itself off. I quickly proceeded to put the car in neutral with one hand and with the other on the steering wheel driving the vehicle as I was going around a sharp curve. I was able to start it up again but this was in my opinion very dangerous. I took it to the Nissan dealership and they could not figure out what the issue. Some months later I was driving around town and my Murano would not move even though I was pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor I pulled over to inspect the engine compartment to see if I could fined the problem. Finally after about 45 min. It regained the ability to move again. I have taken it to different mechanics but they have not been able to get a code for this problem and all I keep hearing from them is to continue to drive it until it gets worse. As I have stated before I find this issue to be very dangerous and that is why I send Nissan an email to let them know about my dissatisfaction with their product and to let them know that I will never again purchase another Nissan product.

Have had a problem of the accelerator hesitating from a complete stop and then suddenly going forward. When pressing gas pedal nothing would happen when almost pressing all the way and then it would take off. This happened for several miles and then went back to normal. This happened again on wed. Dec. 21, 2011. The gas pedal again was not responding when pressed and I could sense that the response of the gas pedal to the speed of vehicle was not working properly. I took to Nissan dealer the first time and they could not detect any problem and gave me no reason why this might be happening. I feel this is dangerous to the occupants of this auto and others on the road should the speed of vehicle suddenly change and loss of control occur.

In 2006 we received a recall letter about Nissan having problems with the fuel tank. We had the protection guard installed by Nissan as per NHTSA recall. In April 2011 we were driving on highway and hit something small in the road that punctured the fuel tank. The item was so small no one in the car saw it. The protective shielding, which was a thin piece of plastic, shattered and failed to protect the tank.

My 2004 Nissan Murano AWD SE front driver seat broke. I took it out and paid to have a guy weld it. Others have told me that it is a common Murano problem. Some suggested that it is already a Nissan recall issue but I can't get any info to prove it. It still flops around. Also the front wheel bearing went at 75K miles but that's another problem. The doors lock automatically if you slam the door sometimes. Imagine jumping out of the car to put mail in the box and when you come back it's locked ? dealer said he fixed it... he didn't. the tail gate back door latch sticks. Also the metal rim of the gasoline filler neck got rusty and pitted. Consequently the gas cap didn't seal properly and the check engine light came on. The dealer wanted 800 dollars to change the filler neck. I sanded it and fixed it for nothing.

Did a throttle body cleaning on a Nissan Murano and the check engine light came on. The dealer said it was a money maker and many shop that clean the throttle body have to come to them for the re-learning of the idle air control valve. This is crazy, I have done this on my Porsche and my Ford and Chevy and have never had this happen. Nissan should have a warning sticker on the throttle body to see manual -the manual should state do not clean or you will need to go to dealer to re-learn the idle air control system.

I ran off the left side of a mountain road hitting a large tree with the driver's door, then continued down the hill another ~20 feet slamming into a boulder. When I hit the tree, the driver's door window broke as well as the driver's side rear door. The door was jammed shut. The Nissan was equipped with front side impact airbags and both front and rear head protection airbags. None were deployed. When I hit the boulder, the front passenger airbag deployed, but the driver's front airbag failed to deploy. The pre-tensioner on the driver's seatbelt did not latch resulting in me hitting my upper chest and lower jaw on the steering wheel since the airbag did not deploy. The fuel cut-off device also failed to activate and shut off the engine. After almost a minute, I turned off the engine with the key. I had been knocked unconscious for several seconds. The 2004 Nissan Murano sustained over $25,000 in damage which resulted in it being totaled by my insurance company. The airbag light would illuminate briefly when starting the car prior to the accident. So there was no indication of an airbag malfunction. There was substantial damage to the driver's side of the vehicle as well as the front and undercarriage. My injuries were limited to bruises to my chest and lower jaw. The accident also greatly aggravated a prior injury to my upper back. When I went to go remove my personal belongings from the vehicle, I found that the jack, mounted in the rear floor had come completely out.

I put the back tailgate up in my 2004 Nissan Murano to put my granddaughters' belongings in to take them home. I walked to the back seat area to put something in the back seat, when I heard a huge whooshing sound and suddenly the entire door slammed down. Luckily I wasn't near it or I could have been killed. The door is very heavy and it slammed down with quite a force. There was a strong smell of a vaporized nature in the car. Now the door is very difficult to open and requires both hands to do so. Evidently one of the hydraulic struts went out. This poses a significant danger to anyone nearby. I have called the dealer and am taking it in today. They were very non-committal about it being something they would repair without cost. They did say it was a very rare occurrence. I am very concerned about this incident and want to report it. If others are not aware, there could be a very serious accident. I am concerned about my own safety as well.

Gas mileage as stated on vehicle window sticker grossly exaggerated when compared to actual mileage. Car also had 243 miles on odometer at delivery. When questioned about this the dealer stated that the car was a swapped vehicle that came from a dealer in Massachusetts. I was never informed of the amount of mileage on the car until I looked at the odometer upon pick up. There are over 240 miles on this car that are most crucial in the break in of an engine. I do not know how this car was driven during those miles and suspect that it may have not been driven with the care that I would have. I have placed several complaints regarding fuel mileage with both Nissan usa and biener Nissan. To date I have not gotten any resolution to this problem. I also had to replace both rear tires of this vehicle at approximately 500 miles. Both rear tires were progressively balding from the center line of the tire to the inside shoulder of each tire, to the point where the radial belt was exposed at points of the shoulder. The dealer explained that the dot numbers did not match with the front tires and that someone had switched them in. This also shows that the dealer didn't do a complete safety inspection on the vehicle before delivery.
