High Pressure Line/Hose is leaking and looks like, i am going to have to spend 400$ to fix it. Nissan should be ashamed of this and must issue recall.

This is the second time this occurred......first time at end of warranty at 40,000 km but they covered the replacement of high pressure line. This time still not had it diagnosed but oil leak is in same spot on garage floor so I suspect, reading all these reports, it is same problem all over......

Less than happy with the issues the car has had, front driver's seat, oil pan replacement as it was rusted through, and front wheel hub., and constant brake replacement.

We've actually just been bandaid-ing this problem for at least a year and a half now due to finances. The leak started out small and has grown over time. I'm not sure what the mileage was at the time it started or the exact date but I drive a lot for work and travel so the mileage would have been significantly lower. I had no idea that so many 2006 Muranos had this problem and wanted to let Nissan know that they can add another to the list. If so many people have been experiencing this problem then the part should be recalled and no one should be forking out the kind of money it cost to fix this problem.

Can't complain about how I got the leak, transmission failed and Nissan extended warranty because of transmission issues. When they did the work they damaged power steering hose. I was told it didn't happen there. The problem didn't exist prior. The hose is connected in hidden place on firewall, when working on transmission there is excessive weight put on hose. If you look on u-tube , there is a repair made on hose and mechanic doing replacement of hose feels that hose is always leaking at this point.

I feel Gerald Nissan was responsible for this . I will replace this hose for !/5 of cost myself. My drive really looks bad because of this. Nissan should find better location for hose tie down or remove altogether.

Update from Sep 2, 2015: had to replace fuel pump right and left side ,, also had to replace power steering hose and get new transmission

Power steering pressure hose is leaking, and must be replaced! $500+ to repair at dealer! NHTSA has to do something about this soon! Nissan knows about this DEFECTIVE PART AND IS OVER-STOCKING THIS PART TO KEEP UP WITH DEMAND AND IS UNWILLING TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. WHAT WILL IT TAKE "NHTSA" TO GET YOU TO DO YOUR JOB! A DEATH AND A CLASS ACTION SUIT! I'M CALLING MY LAWYER TOMMORROW !!! SOMEONE HANDS MIGHT BE BEING GREASED HERE- ITS POSSIBLE. I AM NEVER GOING TO BUY A NISSAN AGAIN! NISSAN - A BIG SHAME ON YOU!!!

I'm so happy the sales guy talked me into the extended warranty. I'm 2006 has been in the shop 9 times and it has less than 70000 miles and it's 2013! The steel fluid line was the least of my problems, but annoying, none the less.

After seeing all the complaints on the internet it makes me wonder, How many overpriced replacement hoses does Nissan have to sell before they will admit to a design or manufacturing problem? Conclusion: Just another greedy company that I won't buy from.

Murano S 3.2L V6

After researching the internet and discovering other 2006 Nissan Murano owners were experiencing the same problems made me even more upset. It doesn't speak highly of the Nissan Corporation that a recall has not been issued to correct this deficiency with the vehicle.

It is obviously a defect with the vehicle and should be corrected by Nissan.

DO NOT BUY A NISSAN! They don't stand behind their products and will offer no help regardless of how valid your problem is. No matter what anyone says, a power steering line should not need to be replaced at 42,000 miles. My warranty would not cover it, and Nissan also did nothing about it despite going through the formal consumer complaint process. All you need to do is a quick search and you'll find that MANY other owners experience the same premature failure of this part. $500 to fix a hose?? I'll never buy another Nissan again and recommend the same to all I know.

Murano

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

2006 nissan murano with approximately 68,000 miles on it. Power steering leakage identified by stain on driveway, as well as noise coming from under the hood. With low fluid, steering is sluggish at all speeds. Mechanic determined that cause of the leak is a failure of the high pressure line for the power steering pump. Current remedy is to add roughly a half pint of power steering fluid every few days, and avoiding driving the vehicle

Murano S V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I bought this vehicle from Carmax, at deal closing, the sales person insited on buying an extended warranty for more thatn $2000.00, wich I rejected since the car barely had 27000 miles. After a couple of trips to visit my daughter, anf while driving at 70 miles per hour on the highway, I notice an annoying sound coming from the front of the vehicle; I pulled over and after inspecting the engine comparment I notice a very low power steering fluid in the reservoir tank. I stop at a service station and added fluid in order to make it home. I proceeded to visit a Nissan Dealership and to my surprise, when I asked for the part I was looking for, the sales person did not even bother to look in the computer for the part number, he said he lnew that particular part number because so many owners of 2006 muranos have been looking for the same part.

Obviously there is a serious problem with this particular part of the 2006 murano, and the Goverment is not doing absoutely nothing about it.By now, there should be a national re-call of this vehicle because it could cause potential injuries to somebody one of this days, and if we are lucky enought to have the goverment to step in, we should be reimburse for our expenses.

  • Automatic transmission

After going online and seeing several other complaints about this problem I called Nissan. I had to get the car diagnosed by their dealership for $58. Upon diagnosis they found that the return hose and the pressure hose were both bad. This caused damage to front line inner axle boot, oil cooler line, and the oil pan gasket. I had to wait 24 hours before they called me back. This was my third nissan vehicle so I felt comfortable that they would assist with the repairs. They refused. My mechanic knows and sees several nissan vehicles and told me that this is a standard problem on the Murano and that part is constantly being replaced. That being the case why cant Nissan do a recall and fix the problem.

I am very disappointed with Nissan and was looking forward to upgrade to the Infiniti FX I think this experience has changed my mind.
