The gas gauge drops to empty and the low fuel light will come on when the car is started almost all of the time. And the fuel gauge will show half full after being filled or even while driving. It may also show empty at anytime. It may or may not return to the true level in the tank at some point. You simply do not know how much fuel is in the tank without using the trip odometer to track your mileage between fill ups. The gauge is operationally useless. Additionally, the "service engine soon" light comes on and stays on with this making the state inspection a problem and requiring a regular check to make sure something else hasn't gone wrong. Monitor code displayed is PO463-fuel level sensor a circuit high input. Nissan really needs to diagnose and fix whatever the problem may be. This is an ongoing dangerous situation for many Nissan rouge owners based on what I have seen in complaints on this same problem posted to the internet car forums and my own experience.

The transmission shudders, jerks, whines, roars loudly. Yes it-€™s available for inspection. I was driving up a hill with my grand children in the car, and it started shuddering. Didn-€™t seem to be getting gas at all. The tank was full. Then it started rolling backwards down the hill. Needless to say my grand children were scared to death as I was also. No I haven-€™t spoken to anyone about the problem, as I don-€™t know who to talk to? Nobody has looked at it yet. I figured the transmission went, so I haven-€™t bothere$ with reaching out, until a friend told me hers did the exact same thing. So we looked it up. Yes it seemed to be shuddering before but never lost power and rolled backwards. There were no warning lights, or signs of it quitting. There was no acceleration at all. Just slowly lost power. It was still running but when you push the gas pedal you got nothing. Not even the reving of the motor!03/29

The fuel gauge does not register if there is fuel in the tank, this has been an on-going issue for many months, and has gradually got worse to the point, that when you start the enjoy it always starts at zero. Nissan had a recall on a number of other models and makes with the same issue, the rouge was not included in that recall in 2014. Per the direction on the last recall we are attempting to fill the tank before it gets below 50% full.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. When the vehicle was started, the fuel gauge did not register the amount of fuel in the vehicle when it was below half a tank. The fuel and service engine soon warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the failure began in January of 2018. The vehicle was taken to scott clark Nissan in charlotte, North Carolina where it was diagnosed that the fuel gauge was faulty. The vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and recommended keeping the fuel tank above half full to avoid the warning indicators illuminating. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

I got this car from my daughter in May. This problem started in June, stopped for a while & now in winter (January) it came back & is getting worse to the point I won't drive on freeway anymore. Decelerates at freeway speeds combined with jerking motion. Also does not always accelerate (dogs out) while pressing on gas from complete stop or trying to accelerate in slow traffic causing cars behind to slam on brakes.

I filled up my gas tank on 10/8/17 and the gas gauge showed one bar less than full. This is the 5th time that my fuel sending unit has broken over the last few years. The 1st time on 6/26/10, the 2nd time on 3/30/11 (reported 3/30/11, repaired 4/13/11), the 3rd time on 6/6/12 (reported 6/6/12, repaired 6/12/12), the 4th time on 6/3/13 (reported 6/3/13, repaired 6/17/13), and now the 5th time on 10/8/17. I booked an appointment with my local dealership and they confirmed the malfunctioning fuel sending unit on 10/13/17. But, they told me that it was out of warranty, and they had no discretion or ability to make a repair out of warranty and that I needed to call Consumer Affairs. I called Consumer Affairs on 10/13/17 and explained the situation to two individuals. Both women acknowledged that it wasn't acceptable that I'm now dealing with this exact same issue again. I was told that a regional Consumer Affairs specialist would review the case and my service records, and then contact me with a decision. After back and forth with the specialist and her supervisor, I was told that they were rejecting my case because I was out of warranty. I questioned that as a reason, given I was directed to this group for an 'out of warranty' review. I explained again that I had experienced this same problem repeatedly. This had resulted in the same part being replaced multiple times under warranty. And each of those times, it broke ' pointing to either faulty parts being installed while under warranty, or improper installation while under warranty. I believe this needs to be looked into as a safety issue because it could result in someone running out of gas while driving. Nissan doesn't appear to be taking the issue seriously. And a basic google search will show that I'm not the only person experiencing this issue. Car: Stationary part: Fuel sending unit

Itakata recall:bought the car in July 2016, and everything that can go wrong has, of course it's trial by error, this car had and still has every defect there is. I bought this car from I was not notified of any problems or was my VIN number posted in any event we were on our way to lake george, traveling at a speed of 70 when all of a sudden my car decelerated, flooring got us know where, literally there was traffic everywhere, I put my hazardous lights on and was finally able to get over to right side of road. On another occasion I attempted to go up a hill and while in drive the car just rolled backwards, service engine light came on, perhaps a week after getting my car serviced and multi car inspection. I took the car back, lady at the desk informed me there was a crack in the cvt, they sealed it and replace transmission fluid, she also went to say if it still gives you problems then we will replace transmission while a few weeks later it decelerated again. I have brought the car back to fucillonissan three times, the service man stated I had to wait until the service light on, what he really meant to say is we are not going pay over three thousand dollars for a new transmission, or wait for the extended warranty to expire. The tire pressure indicated light has came on since I bought the car, which is also a defect, and repeatedly informed them, just filling the tires up and reset the buttons prior to me owning this car it was serviced for emissions defect, their website indicated that they merely reset the button, but the fact that are hazardous fumes don't even direct them to look for leak. The gentleman from Nissan said was resolved, pushing a button, just like they did with tire pressure sensor. Nys adhere to one hand watches the other, hence they would place a recall, I just hope an inexperienced driver go through any of this.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate even after the accelerator pedal was fully depressed. The failure recurred four more times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Gas guage started being inaccurate at 36,000 miles. I have read on-line that this is a known problem w Nissan but to date the company does not seem to be doing anything responsible about it. Safety concern is running out of fuel in an area like a canyon road at night where there is no safe place to pull over and cell phone coverage is not available. I travel weekly in such an area for 45 miles at night. I can't trust whatever the guage shows now.

My car failed the cal smog check on 3/24/2016 preventing me from obtaining my registration tags. The car passed every test with the exception of code P0463-fuel level sensor "a" circuit high. The check engine light is on also. I took the car to first Nissan in simi valley, ca and they indicated it would cost $900 to pull the engine to see if the fuel sensor level equipment needs to be replaced. I also called Nissan corporation to seek assistance due to the cost. Nissan Corp refused to provide any assistance. I have read information on the internet that this has been an issue with my year Nissan and that they have recalled vehicles and paid for their repair.

It ran out of fuel while on the freeway. The gas guage says theres still half tank. Road service added gas and it started. Until now the gas guage is still not going down as I drive for more than 50 miles. This is a safety issue cause it could run out of gas in the middle of the road.

The fuel sending unit does not work. I fill up the tank and it does not read full, and it is unreliable. I contacted Nissan North America and they told me the car is not subject to a recall or warranty extension so too bad. This is a 7 year old car! this shouldn't fail! also, Nissan has issued recalls for the same part for the Nissan frontier and Altima, both for the 2008 model year.

Important: If you have a complaint about your transmission, acceleration problems or loss of power you need to also a complaint with the federal trade commission (ftc 877-382-4357) regarding your dealings with Nissan. I just spoke with the ftc and they told me that while they don't respond to individual complaints if they see patterns they do. The only way we will get Nissan to respond to us is by complaining about their business practices as well as their safety issues. These dealerships and corporate Consumer Affairs know that until enough of us complain to the right people and stop just paying for Nissan's known problems with the cvt and other issues, they will keep giving us the run around. I have to put my 2nd transmission in my 2008 Rogue in 12 months. Nissan tells me my last new transmission (April 2014) was out of the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. Their business practices are horrible. These cars are unsafe and putting people in danger. Please make your voice known at the ftc as well as here. Tell others to do the same. We deserve better. Contact me at [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
