What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" Code: B1018, OCS Sensor failure in passenger seat which controls the passenger airbags. Passenger side airbag light kicks on thinking there is a "child" or something light in the front seat which disables the airbag. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Passenger side airbag light kicks on thinking there is a "child" or something light in the front seat which disables the airbag. This is a known issue of the manufacturer but yet the refuse to include other years of these vehicles in their recall. There even has been a lawsuit on their "fix" because they just continue to use the same sensors even when replacing the recalled vehicles sensors. They also expect you to pay 2700 to replace an ENTIRE seat cushion to replace said sensor. I am sorry but poor people do not have that kind of money laying around. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes was reproduced and confirmed by a local Nissan Deal. They even cleared the code and within 2 weeks it appeared again in the same way/format. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" Air bag warning light and the passenger side airbag light kicks on thinking there is a "child" or something light in the front seat which disables the airbag.

Passenger seat Occupant sensor has failed. Yes, available for inspection. This sensor communicates with the Airbag system. The front passenger airbag is disabled due to the fault. The problem has been reproduced, I have followed the process of resetting the DTC and 2 weeks later the DTC has returned. No inspection beyond owner. Vehicle producing DTC B1018 This relates to the occupant sensor which shuts off the airbag when the seat is occupied by a child or small enough adult. Nissan has had several recalls for this sensor in other models and years of this vehicle. Due to poor design the only repair is replacing the entire passenger seat at a cost of over $2000.

AT APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FAILURE WARNING LITES ACTIVATED. THE LITE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND ON THE DASHBOARD IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER ARE BOTH INVOLVED. i AM TOLD BY THE DEALER (MARK) AT DAYTONA NISSAN, THAT THE CAR IS PROBABLY UNSAFE FOR PASSENGERS.. IN RESEARCHING I FIND THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM, THAT IT HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR SOME YEARS, AND THIS HAPPENS TO PRACTICALLY ALL NISSAN ROGUES AND IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CALLS FOR SEAT REPLACEMENT TO THE TUNE OF 2 TO 3 GRAND. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME YEARS AND IS KNOWN TO THE MFG. THEY CHOOSE TO NOT FIX IT. HOW MANY HAVE TO DIE B4 YOU FOLKS TELL NISSAN TO RECALL.

The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the contact noticed that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with the passenger-€™s side seat needing to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was and informed that the VIN was not under recall. There was no further assistance provided. The failure mileage was approximately 16,109. The consumer stated noticed a safety issue because of the disabled flashing airbag warning light on the dashboard while driving at any speed. The vehicle was taken into a local Nissan dealer where it was diagnosed as a faulty OCS (Occupant classification sensor mat passenger seat bottom) which can cause the air bags to improperly deploy. The owner contacted Nissan and filed a complaint but they refused to provide any assistance, but instead said the owner was responsible for this failure which would entail replacing the entire passenger seat at a cost of almost $3,000.

2011 Nissan rouge: The passenger air bag light that indicates the passenger airbag is not active illuminates with an adult seating in the passenger seat. The red airbag warning light on the dashboard cluster flashes. The dealer where I purchased the car states that the airbag will not deploy in a crash. The dealer wants to charge me thousands of dollars to repair this because the car is out of warranty. A web search will find many many Nissan cars with this problem. People have been hurt and killed due to Nissan cars failure to deploy the airbag. The car is unsellable and unsafe. The govermment should require Nissan to fix this problem without cost to the car owner before more people are hurt and killed.

Passenger airbag sensor blinks due to a malfunction. Cost to fix is $3K due to having to replace the passenger seat where the sensor is, which is half the value of the vehicle. This has been blinking for the past year and is extremely distracting and dangerous while driving. Not sure if this means that the passenger airbag will not deploy, which is *extremely* dangerous. Additionally, when traveling, the vehicle often loses acceleration, even with the gas pedal all the way down. It becomes extremely difficult and dangerous to stop or turn. The steering wheel loses power steering, and the brakes do not engage quickly at all.

1 owner car. Mileage 80,000. Air bag lights came on by seat and on dash even when an adult is sitting in passenger seat when ignition is on. Took to dealership and was told entire seat must be replaced because of the sensor at a cost of $3000. This a safety issue that has been reported by many people. This a manufacturing defect. They kept putting this part in even after they starting failing in 2008, 2009, 2010 models. We are required for this to work to get our cars inspected. That is half the value of the car. The entire seat must be replaced"?!!?" I don't know if the bag will deploy or not if there is an accident. How long until the other one fails.

There is a problem with the clock spring in the steering wheel. There are several people who have posted on the internet the same problem ( this was how I discovered it was the clock spring). None of the controls on the steering wheel work as well as the horn does not work. When you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left ( I relieve it's to the left) the horn will then work. I find this to be a safety issue since I can not alert another driver using my horn. I'm less concerned about the controls on the steering wheel working. From the research I have completed I am not sure if this problem affects the air bag or not. I believe there is a wire hook up to the air bag.

This last time to the Nissan in my area, I had them look at my passenger airbag sensor, as the sensor indicates off, even if there is no weight on the seat. My service advisor and the head of the service department both said that it's not clear if the airbags will deploy if the sensor is off. They said I could get it replaced, but the issue is: It will cost $2,600 because they need to replace the whole seat. Come to find out, this is actually an issue reported to the NHTSA from other 2011 Rogue owners. I am the primary driver in my family, but now I am worried to Transport anyone. It doesn't look like there has been a recall, but this is an issue that can cause me to sell my vehicle and not get another Nissan. I am now worried of getting into an accident and knowing full well my airbags, the one thing built into the vehicle to keep people safe, may or may not deploy, and may or may not keep people safe. $2,600 to fix a car defect isn't an option for me. Planning a funeral for someone who chooses to ride in my front seat isn't an option either. I am truly at a loss for what to do next, but I am heartbroken that it's come down to those two options. I wanted to keep my Rogue for a few years more - I love it, but safety is my number one priority. I wish safety was a priority to Nissan to make this a recall, but it seems like profits have surpassed customer safety. The sensor has been on for months, but the first time they said there was nothing that could be done.

Vehicle passeger airbag sensor in the front passenger seat is defective, after speaking with my mechanic, I was informed it was a known issue, but there was currently no recall. The only way to correct the problem was to replace the entire passenger seat to the tune of $2500. Nissan needs to accept responsibility for the " known issue".

There have been numerous complaints made about the passenger side air bag defect in the 2011 Nissan rouge. My car failed the state inspection because the air bag light was blinking on the dash board. I took my car to the Nissan dealership as no one else was able too. Nissan informed me that the air bag sensor in the passenger seat was malfunctioning and would have to be replaced. The only way to replace the sensor is to completely replace the passenger side seat at a price of $2,000. If the sensor is so buried in the passenger seat that the entire seat has to be replaced, then that is a factory defect and is Nissan's responsibility to fix it at their expense. You would think that with all the complaints and the fact that this is a major safety hazard, Nissan would want to recall and have this problem fixed! of course, then they couldn't collect $2,000 for every seat replaced for this defect. The warning light just started blinking about a month ago, but who knows how long the air bag has been defective, maybe the light doesn't blink until it is critical because the air bag button always showed the air bag as off no matter how big or small the person sitting in the seat was. This is a safety hazard and attention should be paid!
