Very annoying for a relatively new car to make this noise. Likely causing damage to engine.

problem #2

Rogue ES 2L 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 9,091 miles

Engine rods are knocking when cold or first starting up. Took it to the Dealership and they made up some story about how they all do that. He said that Nissan built the engines "loose" so they will last longer. SO no help/no fix. Don't expect this engine to last long - new car engine rods knocking when it's cold is INSANE.

I purchased this car brand new on June 30th 2015. The next day I noticed that when I started the car up it would make a rattling noise. It felt as though a piece of metal or a loose bolt was in their shaking. I immediately made an appointment with the dealership service department and they kept the car overnight. All they did was run a diagnostic test even though I told them that it was a common problem with this car and that many owners were reporting it as a loose heat shield. The service guy said the car was perfectly fine.

It is now September 2015 and the problem is still ongoing. Out family have bought 3 new cars this past year and none of them make this type of noise during start up so it cant be a common startup noise. My neighbor has this exact car and his does not make this kind of noise. I have complained to corporate with no response. I'm just scared of more damage happening to the car the more I start it.
