Oil was getting into the radiator so I took it to the Nissan dealer in National City CA. They had a long list of things they said they needed to do repair/replace including the engine. Their estimate was $9,700. They then took $100 from me for the estimate. I replaced the head gasket myself and the engine runs fine. I'll never buy another Nissan.

I just bought my wife a Volkswagon, going German now.

Please...PLEASE!!! Don't buy one of these cars, (2004) Nissan Sentra. Nissan does not care about customer satisfaction: after I took this car to the Nissan dealer I was told there are no recalls on this car with the 1.8 engine.

But after many hours spent on the internet I found that THERE ARE MANY people that have dealt with the same problem. After spending $1,800 and lots of breakdowns and towings, I have had it with the Nissan Brand. If Nissan can't, (and they won't) own up to their defective cars, then they will never see my money again.

In winter car did not start for week after several intents and mechanic checked. After few months later on freeway radiator broke oil tune up was updated.

After repair in 6 month I had changed plugs tune UPS sensor mechanics suggested and I still have code P0300 mechanics did not give me answer to fix. Now notice antifreeze go like water in dessert, still problems with start. I found on Web that possible problem I rate is in this category I read posted and the car has same symptoms. I am bored with Nissan.

$1,800.00 to replace a blown head gasket -never expected, nor should have had this happen on a car that only had 30,000 miles on it....had oil changes every 3/4,000 miles, garage kept. I realize the car is 8yrs old but good grief! Sure seems to be a lot of the same complaint out there.....

I bought the used 20004 NISSAN Sentra in 2009, and ever since I got my car, the engine light kept on and off several times. In May 2012, the car was overheated on the freeway. The mechanic changed the radiator. And, the car did not start again, so the mechanic changed the starter. 1 month later, it happened again, and the other mechanic found blown head gasket. They replaced it with a new one, changed several things. 2 months later, now, it happened again. I am over exhausted. I am discouraged by the NISSAN product.

I got bad impression on Nissan, and will never buy NISSAN, neither recommend it to my friends again.

They should have recalled it, or took an action for this common problem.

The past few days the temprature was cold outside but the heat was not working correctly. This morning the engine would not start. Had AAA take it to the local PEPBOYS to have a look at the car. After inspection, the code showed Misfires. They found coolant/water in several of the head gaskets. The spark plugs were very difficult to remove. There were NO indications of any issues other than the heater not working correctly. The gauges all seemed normal. Check engine light did not come on. Fixing the gaskets was going to cost 3400. (Got quotes from 4 shops... ranging from 3400-4150). Went with the option of replacing the engine since that was recommened by 3 of the shops as well as a mechanic friend). Nissan wanted $6200 to replace the engine or $4150 to fix the gaskets. Extended warrently did not apply here since the diagnostics indicated "overheat" which was not covered by the warranty and there are no recalls for this issue. Will never buy another Nissan.

we (my wife and I) are having the same problem on our 2004 sentra, We called nissan and tryed to get them to pay for there faulty part (head gasket) and they told us we had to bring it to a nissan dealer (we already had a estimate from our mechanic stating it was a blown head gasket cost from that mechanic $940.00) So we brought it to the nissan dealer and they to said it was a blown head gasket-and would cost $1460.00 there. So we waited to hear back from nissan and when they called us back they said they were'nt going to do anything about it. This should very much be a recall issue but for some reason nissan will not stand behind there product. Our car only has 76,000 miles, and very well takein care of, still like new and we've owned it since it was brand new, ing out on all of these types of cars!! i am trying to get nissan to pay for there faulty head gasket and i need a bunch of people to help do that, Im trying to get alot of names, numbers, and email addresses to send to nissan and force them into makeing this issue a recall. If u have this problem or know someone that does or did, even if you already fixed it were trying to get them to reimburse you, please send you contact info to me at chicago2569@yahoo.com or you can send it strait to nissanusa.com/apps/contactus make sure you say in regards to complaint# 7358352/ or its under my wifes name Alejandra Lennox. We spoke to Shea at nissan consumer affairs 1800-343-6913 Shea's ext.458179 I told him I was going to make nissan pay for their defective product. Thank you very much

My Nissan Sentra started leaking coolant gradually for about a year until one day the car could not start. After about 30mins of trying i finally got it to start. I asked my friend who was a mechanic to take a loot at it. He removed the plugs and they were soaked with anti-freeze.

We hard to replace the head gasket at 134125 miles. I like nissan but this is my worst experience with nissan cars. Nissan should have recalled this issue. I will never advise any body to buy a 2004 and 2005 nissan Sentra. Don't waste your money on this years models.

I had a blown head gasket with 50,000 miles and Nissan replaced it under warranty. I now have another blown head gasket at 92,000 miles and Nissan gave me the runaround until I had it fixed by someone else. I will never own another Nissan Sentra again and Nissan didn't seem to care.

Sentra 1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 77,000 miles

Noticed rough running on startup that smoothed out in a few seconds. Later saw check engine light with code for misfire in cylinder 3. After reading this and other sites investigated for blown head gasket. Cylinder 3 indeed had coolant present, oil level was up but looked clean (likely coolant in oil pan), water level was down. On driving car to dealer noticed the coolant burn off as white smoke. Car was Never overheated (temp gauge has always remained at 1/2 position) although this comment somehow got on the repair order at the dealership, and has always been well maintained with 3k oil changes and 3yr coolant flushes. Filed a case with Nissan using the 800 number, no response yet. This is definitely a pitiful defect that should be covered by Nissan. If they do not stand behind their products I and everyone I can notify will steer clear of Nissan products in the future. This is the first head gasket failure I have experienced in about 10 vehicles.

Sentra LX 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

I had 'service soon light' so went to local repair and shop and he said that car needs tune up so spent $200 still the light so went back and replaced spark plugs, air flow sensor, trilo body and spent around $800. So noticed after one day that the light is still back. So this time went to the Nissan dealer who charged $100 to check light and gave estimate of $1400 for LEAKING HEAD GASKET.

And wanted to know solution for this smilar problem and was surprised that there are already so many complaints about it. I think Nissan should recall and fix this problem
