Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2006 Nissan Sentra Owner Comments

problem #2

Dec 292008

  • 30,000 miles

On December 29, 2008, my son and his girlfriend were involved in an auto accident. He was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra with side airbags. His vehicle was hit on the driver's side. The driver's front airbag and side airbag deployed. The passengers' front airbag deployed however the passenger's side airbag did not deploy. Injuries - driver - right femur fracture right tibia and fracture to left pelvis; passenger - severe head injury. Are all airbags supposed to deploy or not when the vehicle is involved in an auto accident?

My wife skidded off a freshly graveled road and nose-dived into a ditch frontend first, catapulted the vehicle into a C/clockwise spin and wrapped the vehicle around a tree. The original impact was front end and no airbags deployed. The passenger side was completely crushed hitting the tree with what would appear as a side curtain airbag deployment. On investigation, it appears the air bag was torn out of the center wall (no propellant smell or residue). Had the air bags deployed there would not have been injuries that certainly would not have required med-A-vac. Jpc/SC.
