CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2017 Nissan Sentra has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Sentra owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

As I was driving or turning, car would hesitate, speed would drop even though foot still on accelerator. Turns out had moisture in driver's brake light which caused car switch to brake thereby causing jerking hesitation. Dangerous because even though car slowed down, brake lights not lit, dangerous to drivers behind me. Light replaced due to seal allowing moisture in.

My gas/acceleration decreases while driving on bust highways. I was told by a service tech a douglas Nissan, where I purchased my vehicle brand new September 2014, that they have had 'several' customers complain of the same problem and that what they have found it to be is a faulty back tail light and computer reading glitch, that they have found moisture build up due to condensation (when the lights are on) in a back tail light causes the car to 'think' it is in reverse thus causing the 'skid' icon to appear on the panel and which is causing the car to decelerate, this has happened to me on sevreal occasions now where my speed has decreased to 60 on a 75 mh interstate hw in dallas and driving North to South on 45 and almost every day for the past two weeks of driving the hour it takes me to get to work in the dark (I need my lights). I am told that 'I' am the one who has to pay for this (a light costing $210 each and labor at $55 per hour because I am at 46000 miles) even thought this clearly seems to be a manufacturing problem. I was told that, until I can afford the new lights, to try turning my lights off while driving and not to use my fog lights'I drive in the dark every day'I must use my lights! I pray this becomes recall because I cannot afford the repair and I pray myself or someone else does not get into an accident because of this! this has happened on at least 12 occasions now and it is very scary!
