Rear differential 2004 Nissan Titan failure never towed anything. Brake warp and shake. These are obvious manufacture defect and Nissan should fix them at no cost to owner. These are also critical safety issues. We are talking brake failure and possible rear end lock up. This is unheard of with a vehicle with this mileage.

The rear differential failure @ 70,000 miles... Nissan is so under handed they are still holding the patent and will not release the parts to the aftermarket. When I first called for the rear approx. 9 months ago it was $1400... now the same dealer says the price has gone up to $1700... this is beyond highway robbery it is flat out a disregard for the consumer. It is because of this at every chance I get I stop at the busiest Nissan dealership and continually make a "scene'. I know it will get me no where, but I still owe $17,000 on a pos that I cannot drive.

I bought a 20004 Nissan Titan used and within months both the front and rear diff. Have gone bad and had to be replaced. Now when it gets cold my door handles freeze. The handles can not be opened, then they will not close you need to hold them closed and lock the doors to keep them closed. This is unsafe.

My truck sounded slightly louder than normal on my short drive home. I was driving on a 35mph road and something didn't seem right. It sounded like my tires were out of alignment. I drove the half mile home on the 35mph road in 2wd. I pulled into my garage and looked at my tires and under my truck. Everything looked normal. The next morning I noticed some oil on my garage floor. After further investigation I saw it was coming from my passenger side front axle seal. My axle was pulled loose from the differential because some weak clip that held the assembly together has broken. I researched the problem and found that several people have had the same exact problem. I contacted the local Nissan dealer to get an estimate for repair. I was told that I had a one of a kind problem that they have never heard of. My local repair shop told me it would be several days to get parts and repair the damage. They estimated the cost would be between $350-$600 to replace the front right axle, axle seal, and clip. Additional cost and parts would be necessary if any further damage was found in the differential.

I was driving like normal came to a four way stop light at a busy highway intersection, stopped and preceded to go when it was my turn. My rear differential grenaded and I was stuck in the middle of the intersection. Luckily I new I had to get out of the intersection as soon as possible and I put my truck into four wheel drive and let my front tires pull me through the intersection. I then pulled over to a safe spot and looked at the damage. Gear oil all over my truck and on the highway. I was fortunate to react quickly. But this really could have been bad. I took my truck to my dealer and it cost me $3500 for a new rear end. They (Nissan dealership) replaced the whole axle assembly. They told me Nissan would only let them replace the whole thing and not just the gears. Fishy if you ask me. A normal rear differential fix should cost less than $1000. Sounds like Nissan knew this was a problem!!!!

2004 Nissan Titan, last week I noticed while driving and turning corners there was banging coming from the rear of the truck. Within 2 days the truck was undrivable...the driveshaft, while in gear would just spin inside the rear differential. The only way to drive vehicle was to place transmission into 4WD and use the front wheels to move the truck!
