CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014-2017 Nissan Versa Note has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data from earlier model years for the same generation.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa Note owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

I was driving in stop abs ho traffic and the car cut off out if no where. The car jerks when you drive it and stalls. It seems like it requires a lot of work to accelerate and the rpm fluctuates between 2&3 when keeping a steady pace. The care bucks while you are driving. I just bought this car so these issues are alarming to me. It also looks as if the airbag on the top left might be exposed.

I was in my car sleeping with the ignition off when I woke up there was flames on the driver side of the hood. You can see where the fire started on the ground wire by the battery circuit box. My safety was at risk because I could have not been able to make it out of my car if didn't wake up in time and could have been severely injured or even dead.

When accelerating the car shuts off. When pulling into a parking lot the vehicle shut off. When pulling in driveway, up a slight hill, the vehicle shut off. The car shut off three times on 7/13/2020 on my 2015 Nissan Versa note.

Car floors--right, left, front and rear were mysteriously flooded with a substantial amount of water. Vehicle had been parked in flat driveway, all windows shut, and upon driving a couple blocks from home and pulling to a stop sign on a downward sloping street, water rushed forward on the floor of the car. Car was last driven 2 weeks prior to get inspected and subsequently there had been a few days with heavy rains. Where the water came in I don't know. Used shop-vac to suck out tons of water but moisture still remains on floors when pressed with paper towels. Also, different lights were lit on dash when I put the air on while parked to help dry out carpet--the ABS and the car skidding lights. Makes me suspect electrical system was affected by water also. Will call mechanic and insurance company first thing tomorrow (Monday).

Base S model. Level ground. Stationary. Steering wheel not locked. Key takes a few tries to turn the ignition, like it's the wrong key. WD40 doesn't help. Feels like the lock's pins are worn.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Versa note. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on several occasions. In addition, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate forward after it was started. The dealer (luther Nissan of inver grove, located at 1470 50th street, East suite a, inver grove heights, Minnesota 55077, (612) 424-7661) diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced under warranty, but the failure recurred three weeks later. In addition, kline Nissan (3090 highway 61 North, maplewood, Minnesota 55109, (877) 284-5230) took the vehicle for a test drive, but could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000. The VIN was not available.

With the vehicle in motion and no warning lights on, all electronics shut down except for the turning indicators, along with the engine. Accelerator no longer functioned nor did the break assist. After pulling over and turning the car off, it would not start again through turning the key ignition. The car remained in that state until I shook battery cables (which were not loose and maintained full contact both before and after shaking). Afterwards, the car started as usual with no warning lights. This has happened three times now, all instances ending in the car power shutting down.
