CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014-2017 Nissan Versa Note has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data from earlier model years for the same generation.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa Note owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

I was driving into Washington, DC on hwy 50 and I heard a loud clunk and then there was metal dragging on the pavement. I pulled over as soon as it was safe. Another driver pulled over to assist. I'm 86 yrs old and not able to crawl under the car. The spare tire is stored underneath the body of the car and it had fallen out on the hwy. I didn't realize this until I returned home and one of my children looked under the car to see what was wrong. The spare tire was gone. We had to purchase a new spare tire. I'm very concerned that this will happen again and that lose spare could really cause problems on a high speed road.

Driving as I normally do on my normal route, doing about 30 mph, and car wouldn't make the corner. Went over curb, bent the rim in two places, and of course ruined the tire. It was as if the car was intent on going right. No evidence of stability control working. Have never had an experience like that. Called aaa and they changed tire. Drove to dealer, and was given an estimate of over $500 to repair damage. Estimate included rim, oem tire, plastic wheel cover ($80) told it would be necessary to have a four wheel alignment. The scary thing was it felt like I had no control over the wheel. Cranked steering hard left, car just headed for the curb. Road is an uphill twisty one that is normally fun to drive, but when the drifted left, and I steered right, it didn't straighten out and went over the curb.

I rented a 2015 Nissan Versa note from budget rental out of the prov ri airport on 1-12-16 to go to a wake & funeral. After leaving the wake and about 7:30pm not long after starting the vehicle and traveling 1/2 mile I lost both the ability to brake and steer, I wasn't going more than 10 mph. The vehicle lost control of both the steering and the brakes were hard and unresponsive. The vehicle crossed to other lane and slowly brushed against a telephone pole. I got out and didn't see any damage. I drove the vehicle apx 1.5 miles to my brothers house and parked it for the night. The next morning I was leaving and noticed that there was a small dent on the fender so I was going to look at the pole 1.5 miles away and backed the vehicle out of the driveway and started to pull forward and 12-15 feet going forward the steering and brakes would not work. I got out and saw that the wheels were both pointed in and after looking closer noticed that the left stering connector that was suppose to be engaged to the rack in pinion stering was not engaged and only the right front wheel would spin. I video taped the tire tracks that the vehicle traveled and that the wheels were both pointed in ( which couldn't have been driven 1.5 miles from the accident) called budget rental, let them know, they dispatched tow driver and he and I winched the wheels so they could be placed on dolly for tow. I took pictures of tow driver. I informed budgets mechanic of wheel issue and he said he would have Nissan look at it. I felt justified that my account of the incidident was not in question. I then videoed the pole, tire tracks and the 1.5 mile drive to my brothers home. Budget then sent my insurance co a bill for the body work but failed to mention anything that supported my claim as to the steering. I have dvd's pictures and video pertinent supporting this claim. Please look into.

Driving my car I thought I had seen smoke or steam coming from my car, when I parked and got out I smelled burnt rubber, burnt brake smell and this time I could see smoke coming out from my left wheel, I took the car in next day, was told it was over spray on the underside causing the smoking and brakes were good, after that I would occasionally hear grinding noise from my brakes but the dealership said the brakes were good. Over the months I noticed the grinding noise more, April 2015 I took it in for an oil change and asked to have my brakes looked at again because I kept hearing grinding noise from the brakes and front end, again I was told everything was good. By July 3, 2015 I took it in again after hearing a horrific sound when turning the wheels to the right, the wheel baring had gone out causing the brakes to gouge the rotors my car only had 8304 miles on it, I bought the car new in Sept 2014, the wheel bearing was replaced and the rotor resurfaced. Car was great for 2 1/2 weeks today 8/6/15 I took my car in because the grinding noise started again just like last time, today I was told rotors were warped causing the brake pads not connecting properly the the rotors. I am really upset being I bought this car brand new and now having issues with the brakes which could be dangerous.....updated 10-27-15

Car was bought November 1st.. 3330 miles and already having problems with the frontal shocks they make.. noise...the left door squeaks when open /close...you can hear something making rattling noise when driving slow then accelerating.don't know where the sound comes from... when turning to the left at 20 mph or more the wheel make a nasty noise like if you were to sharpen a long knife goes away when the wheel goes back to straight position... unacceptable... disappointed with Nissan.

I was driving in the freeway in the left lane when suddenly I feel as a hit something with my front right tire and get flat, I move to the shoulder to change and oh surprise the wheel was crack really bad, I never saw something like this, I don't know if the wheel material is too soft and my car has original equipment, I just let the people know about this matter to see if someone else had this problem, Nissan dealer said maybe I hit something big as a sidewalk, rock or metal, I'm not blind but anyway there is not recalls about wheels on Nissan cars and no warranty they give.
