The security light is the biggest pain in car history. The problem is that the car's computer cannot recognize the chip that is put into car keys. The car is too stupid to know that the key is suppose to start the thing. So now you're stranded for at least ten minutes as the car's computer completely shuts down the fuel injectors. I hate this about my car.

Lately the red security light has been coming on and staying on while I'm driving. It doesn't seem to effect how the car runs or anything, but it can't be good.

Normally, a scanner can be hooked up to the car to diagnose the problem. We have learned from our mechanic that GM will not release the diagnostic codes for the security system. You have to bring it to the dealer to fix it, which no doubt will cost the other arm and leg you have left after you filled up your tank with overpriced gas.
