I bought my alero in November of 2008 and ive had nothing but problems! Now it has started having the problem where it wont start. So we changed all the spark plugs and wires thinking that was part of the problem and after doing that it is still happening. You have to try to start it and push the gas and keep it accelerated for a minute before it will stay running on its own. Well once again today that didnt even work it left me adn my kids stranded! The security light has been coming on sometimes when your driving it so that cant be good. I think it is about time to take that car to the junk yard!! Never had so much problems with a vehicle in my life ill never buy anything from that company again!!! They dont want to do anything about it!!

I own a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero and I have been having the same difficulty over the past 6 months. I have taken care of the car, performing all of the scheduled maintenance, but it will turn over but not start. I have to press the gas a little to get it to stay running. I just had the intake gasket replaced back in March but that was not the problem. It was quite costly, around 750.00. It doesn't have very many kilometers for its age, but I am thinking about trading it in.

My 1999 alero seems to have the same problems as the 2001's. It started acting up a couple months ago, and I have yet to find somebody who can tell me what is wrong with it. My car won't start at all OR it turns over, but then dies. I have to hold my foot on the gas as soon as it starts and slightly let my foot off so it doesn't die. I've taken it to the GM dealership as well as a couple of other shops, but nobody seems to know the problem. Of course, as soon as I get it to the shop, it starts right up for the mechanic and they look at me like I'm retarded. The other day, it wouldn't start at all... no sound, no lights, and I couldn't even use my keyless entry. On top of that, my driver side window wasn't working. When the tow truck driver came, it started right up (of course), but reset the clock and my window started working. He thought it was a fuel injection problem. It's currently in the shop now (they put a new starter in because they "thought" that might be the problem.) Obviously it's not. I told them to check the computer or something with the fuel system, but they're ignorant and basically think that those couldn't be problems. I just spent $500 on a starter (which isn't the problem) and now I'm waiting to hear what BS they come up with today. Any comments??? I need help!
