My cruise control went out over a year ago. I have checked all fuses, the light comes on but just won't set. Typically I am in town, but my children live far away and it makes a very long trip.

Cruise control went out on my Alero about 4 years ago! I Never had it fixed because it wasn't a priority. I plan on seeing how much it would cost soon because I do like the feature however, GM doesn't seem to know how to get it right. I once owned a Beretta GT that I had on cruise control and the thing wouldn't stop accelerating. Talk about a death trap!

The switch on the cruise control has went out. At first it was on all the time but now the cruise only works if the button is held down. We didn't really use it that much but I can't believe a button would only last several cycles before giving up.

The Cruise Control failed about a year ago, but I noticed if the switch was held down, it would work. I fashioned a shim out of a foil gum wrapper and wedged it between the button and the trim to keep the button held down.

This fix has worked for the last year - I use my cruise control every day.

Cruise control button will not stay engaged. You can hold it down and it will work, but as soon as you let go, it cancels.

Does anyone have any idea what makes the cruise control just QUIT? The cruise won't set, the light indicating the cruise is on doesn't do anything. Does anyone know what the estimated cost is? Maybe I'll unload it on the kid and let him deal with it

Cruise will not turn on when switch is pressed. Cruise will function with you holding down on set button but what a pain trying to drive and hold cruise butto at the same time.
