These aleros all rust by the rear tires. Engineering flaw. I recently repaired my alero. Upon removing the interior panels and the ground effect on the outside. Major rust. Inside of the body panel where they come together. The factory used foam to seal the joints. All this did was seal the water in and cause the rust. I removed the foam, cut out all of the rust, and used fiberglass to do the repair. Every Alero I see has the same issue. Fix it or you will wish you did.

Alero GL 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

This car started rusting at the front part of the rear wheel well on the drivers side with less than 100,000 miles on it. It has progressively gotten worse and is now rusting below this area around the trim on the bottom of the car on both sides of the car.

The problem is gm has a rust warranty up to 100,000 miles but would not cover the problem because you couldn't put your finger through it. It shouldn't matter if you can stick your finger through it or not it is still rusted and looks like hell.
