Although the car was only ten years old an had 114000 miles, it had already experienced SEVERE RUST problems, including a cracked windshield due to rust bubbles under the windshield seat. My auto body guy told me that the Alero model was prone to rust problems due to several manufacturing procedures in this model. It was also experiencing problems with the computer and several sensors, which my mechanic suggested might be due to rust.

What finally occurred was a collapse of the A frame on the passenger side that resulted in a total loss of steering. Fortunately this occurred while turning around in the driveway. Moments earlier I had been traveling at 60 MPH on the highway. If this failure had occurred there, it would most likely would have resulted in a crash.

I feel strongly that General Motors has built a very shoddy and dangerous product.
