I've noticed about a year ago I would start this car, and the RPM's would go very high. After a while it stopped doing it. The last two weeks while driving it accelerates on it own. No need to touch the gas pedal. This can be dangerous, and I'm wondering if there is a recall on this issue.it happens while stationary and while driving.

When slowing down to accommodate another car, my vehicle began unable to accelerate and then I noticed that the brakes had locked up as well. I had to take the key out of the car and restart it for it to work again.

Where to even begin with this 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 so many problems with this car. Right now it smells like it's on fire. I see where GM had a recall last yr but the Aurora is not included, and it should be recalled. It also lunges forward when stopped at a light, it also dies when driving it.

Oldsmoblie Aurora 2001 had idle problems. Under various conditions the vehicle would not return to idle and in some instances the vehicle's RPM's would increase. The problem persisted on and off for two years. The dealer replaced the cruise control but that did not correct the problem. Once the dealer replaced the throttle position sensor the problem was alleviated.

Car kept cutting off and the RPM was at around 4000 without touching the gas. Sometimes when I go to hit the gas it will just sputter and die then it will take about 10 minutes to get it started again. Check engine light was on and they said I needed a mass air flow sensor so got that replaced and it still did it. Then they said the crankshaft position sensor code came up so I replaced and it still does it. I have almost been in a few accidents because the car will die out at the wrong time.

When driving vehicle stalled and cut off. Dealer stated there were no defects. Manufacturer stated they would look at the vehicle for one day. The vehicle would stall while accelerating, stopping or stopped. The manufacturer refused to authorize the dealer to repair the vehicle under a tsb, which outlined the problem, unless the dealer could duplicate the failure.
