Check engine lights coming on consistently. There has always been trouble with this since I bought the car. Dealer would say it was never the same code. After the second year of this, I purchased a good electronic diagnostic code reader and the service manual for the car. (the same 3 books that the dealer uses). Most codes were the same and almost always there were multiple codes at one time. In 2004 the car was in the dealer 17 times for the check engine light. Most of the time it had multiple codes, with the same numbers coming up. They replaced everything that had to do with the code(it was still under the extended warranty I paid extra for) but the light came on within 1 day of getting it back. It took them 5 days to inspect the car because they could not get the light to stay off long enough to pass the emission part. The light came back on with the same codes before I left the dealership. The warranty ended a week after they inspected it (100,000 miles). My car has been sitting in my drive ever since the yearly inspection expired because the light will not go out and I don't have the money for them to replace something that probably has been replaced numerous times already. The car has probably got a short somewhere or the computer has messed up again. I still have all service records showing everything I've said. The only thing the dealer did, was waste time and charge Oldsmobile $$$$$ until the warranty was up. They never fixed the car, they had it more than I did in 2004. I see exactly why Oldsmobile is gone, but did they have to steal everybody's money by selling us garbage and not standing behind their product. I know olds is gone but......General Motors is still here. I will not ever buy a GM product because of this. And my brother-in-law works for GM. So take the employee discount and stick it, because no discount is worth the trash that General Motors makes.
