My headlights flicker and dim which is dangerous during nigh time driving, so I am unable to drive when its dark out. Also my blinkers work off and on. I feel GM should cover a recall on these problems.

I noticed the headlights dimming on their own about a week after I first started driving the vehicle. It occurs intermittently, and very often. I have heard the headlights switching into different modes like this both a night and during the daytime hours. This poses a serious distraction to oncoming traffic on highways and other roads and could confuse other drivers at stop signs. GM should address this issue immediately; I have seen many other complaints on this very same issue. [note: I believe this issue may also be linked to a serious issue with the turn signal relay system. I have had intermittent blinker issues and failures on both passenger and driver side since 2010, and it does not appear that the replacement of the turn signal relay system solves the problem, it did not for me (filed separate complaint for turn signal issues experienced)]

My blinkers on the driver's side (front and back) began to malfunction and would only work intermittently in 2010. This went on for about a year and then the passenger side blinkers (front and back) began to malfunction in the same manner about 6 months later. This went on with both sides working only intermittently for 2 years. Then, suddenly while driving at night and trying to make a left turn in mid 2012, the passenger side blinker started making very loud electrical glitch sounds and then completely blew and my car died with it. I had to replace the alternator shortly after and the passenger side blinkers worked perfectly, but I had to drive with out my driver's side blinkers until mid 2013, when I could not pass dmv required inspection. I paid to have the driver's side blinker relay system replaced and it worked for about a month but then both driver and passenger side blinkers started working intermittently again. Within 1 month, the driver's side blinker relay system completely failed again (passenger works, except I have to wiggle and mess with the emergency hazards lights to get it to even turn on at all). Now I have one pair of blinkers not working at all, and one that is intermittent, 3/4 of the time it works but only if I distractedly wiggle my hazard light button while trying to turn or change lanes. Mechanics are baffled and don't know what too tell me! this is a dangerous condition for anyone to be driving with and I fear it will cause an accident someday soon. I have also had the same issue with my headlights intermittently dimming that has been reported by many GM consumers since I started driving the vehicle in 2007. I do not want to have to pay another mechanic to replace my driver's side turn signal relay system, just for it fail again due to these dangerous electrical system problems in my 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. GM needs to act quickly!

Blinkers on a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue will quit working intermittently. Temperature and humidity seem to be a factor. Multiple taps on the hazard switch will restart the blinkers temporarily. This to be a known problem in the olds Alero of the same period. See NHTSA action number :EA02037.

No injuries as of yet but a default in the left side directional (signal) turning light. Works for a day and then burns out creating burn plastic in the socket, could lead to a wiring problem causing the alternator and such to burn out.

I believe that I am experiencing the very same issue as addressed in investigation #EA02037. However, I have a 2000 olds Intrigue. I have tried checking the fuses and wiring, but recently discovered that by moving the hazard switch, the blinkers start working again. Currently I have flaky turn signals and when they do work, only the back signals light and blink, while the front signal light comes on, the front signals do not blink. I have to "jiggle" the hazard switch daily and have had no luck finding a replacement switch. As of today, I have narrowly avoided several accidents while turning left because the cars in front of me cannot see a working signal. Please advise.

Headlights, instrument lights, and fan dim and or flicker while driving. The problem is most prevalent when the temperature is colder and during acceleration. However problem also exists under normal city and highway driving conditions. Engine performance and radio does not falter during the dimming of the lights. Alternator was replaced following tsb 010603001 one year ago. Problem appeared resolved until cold weather set in again.

3 problems. I think they are all electrically related. First, is one that has been noted on this site about the interior lights and headlamps dimming occasionally for long periods of time. Second is the right front blinker doesn't always blink when signaling, it just stays on. At least the interior turn signal blinks fast to indicate that a problem exists. Lastly, the engine has "misfired" on several occasions now causing the service engine soon light to come on. Now, this problem was "fixed" at the place I purchased the vehicle. A crankshaft position sensor was replaced. For 2 months this problem didn't occur. Now it occurs more and more frequently.

Bought car Oct 2000 as a used auto. Immediately had problems with it. Has been in shop for each of these 4-5 times at least. It has a vibration in the steering system. Midshaft was replaced, but it returned. Olds did say they would attempt to fix this. Ordered a new intermediate shaft, but they could not find what was actually causing this problem. Been also in shop for lights flickering, heater surging, temp gauge running hot. Alternator was replaced after a 3 week stay at the dealer. This problem returned 3 days before midshaft was to be replaced the 2nd time. Called dealership that was going to replace shaft, and decided to hold off until we could settle this with olds. Olds is not trying to rectify easily. I am reporting this to better business bureau at this time.
