The contact owns a 1997 Plymouth Voyager. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the fuel tank detached from the vehicle. The contact was able to safely stop the vehicle and upon examining the vehicle, the contact noticed that one of the fuel tank straps had fractured due to corrosion. The contact applied a temporary strap as a remedy. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 175,000.

Consumer states there is a smell of gas in the vehicle at times, consumer saw a report about a recall for 1996 thru 2000 models, regarding a gas leak in the engine area, however consumer was not specific about the recall.
