Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I tOOK MY CAR INTO fREEDOM DODGE AT 1560 NEW CIRCLE RD, LEXINGTON. KY, ABOUT OCTOBER 2008. I TOOK IT IN SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM . AT FIRST THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY ALARM SYSTEM. AND THAT I NEED TO DISARM IT TO SEE IF THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WENT TO THE PLACE WHERE I HAD THE ALARM INSTALLED AND HAD THEM TO DISARM IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO GET THE CAR IN BEFORE 3:30 AS THE PERSON WHO DID THE WORK I NEEDED DONE, GETS OFF AT 4:00 OR 4:30. I TOOK THE CAR IN AT THE TIME THEY SPECIFIED AFTER ABOUT TWO HOURS THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NEED FOR ME TO BRING MY CAR , IN THE MORNING AND LEAVE IT WITH THEM ALL DAY SO THEYT COULD LOOK FOR THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO RENT A CAR WHICH COSTED ME OVER $50.00 FOR THE DAY. WHEN I RETURNED THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WAS THE COMPUTER WAS BAD AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME 911.00 TO REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I GOT THE CAR IN BY 3:30 THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO PUT THE COMPUTER IN AND I WOULDN'T HAVE TO RENT ANOTHER AS I TOLD THEM IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME TO KEEP RENTING CARS. I TOOK THE CAR IN FINALLY ON DECEMBER 12, 2008 AND THEY PUT THE NEW COMPUTER IN IT. WHEN I WENT TO GET INTO MY CAR, THE LOCKS ON THE DOOR WOULDN'T WORK. I COULDN'T USE THE KEYLESS ENTRY OR RAISE TEHM MANUALLY. ALSO MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULDN'T WORK. I TOLD THE MECHANIC THIS AND HE TOOK THE CAR BACK IN AND WORKED ON IT. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THE COMPUTER THAT THEY HAD PUT IN WAS BAD AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO PUT MY OLD COMPUTER BACK IN. WHEN HE PUT MY OLD COMPUTER BACK IN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGIN TO WORK AND AT LEAST I COULD MANUALLY WORK THE LOCKS ON MY DOORS. WHEN I GOT HOME I REALIZED THAT THE LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE WAS NOW WORKING. I COULD TURN THEM ON AND OFF. I DECIDED TO WATCH THEM FOR A WHILE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD CONTINUE TO WORK. MEAN TIME I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO INSTALL THE NEW COMPUTER. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WASN'T IN YET. I CONTINUED TO WATCH THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THEY WERE WORKING FINE. I THEN CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM NOT TO ORDER A NEW COMPUTER FOR ME AS MY LIGHT WERE WORKING FINE NOW. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD ONE TIME THAT THERE WAS NO ONE WHO COULD SPEAK TO ME AT THAT TIME AND THAT, THEY WOULD HAVE SOME ONE CALL ME., NO ONE EVER CALLED. I AGAIN CALLED THEM AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOME ONE I WAS TOLD BY THE PERSON I SPOKE TO THAT THE PERSON WHO WORKED ON MY CAR WAS NOT THERE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO SPEAK TO HIM. I WAS ASSURED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE HIM CALL ME. AGAIN I DID NOT RECEIVE A CALL. IT WAS NOW CHRISTMAS AND THE DEALER SHIP WAS CLOSED. I ALSO WENT AWAY DURING THE HOLIDAY. I RETURNED ON JANUARY 6, 2009 WHICH WAS A TUESDAY NIGHT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ON WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY JANUARY 7, OR 8, 2009 AND SPOKE TO THE PERSON WHO WORKED ON MY CAR. I TOLD HIM THAT I DIDN'T NEED THE COMPUTER BECAUSE THE PROBLEM THAT I HAD ORIGINALLY WHEN I CAME TO THEM FOR WAS SOLVED AND THAT I WANTED MY MONEY BACK. HE TOLD ME THAT HE COULDN'T RETURN MY MONEY BACK THAT THE MANAGER WOULD HAVE TO DO THAT. HE ASSURED ME THAT HE WOULD CALL ME BACK THE SAME DAY. NEEDLESS TO SAY I DIDN'T HEAR FROM HIM. SO, MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2009, I WENT PERSONALLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD HIM WHY I WANTED MY MONEY BACK. I TOLD THEM THAT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A MISTAKE MAKE MADE BECAUSE MY CAR WAS WORKING FINE WITH THE OLD COMPUTER IN IT AND I TRIED TO CONTACT THEM BEFORE THEY ORDERED ANOTHER ONE. HE TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T REFUND MY MONEY BACK AS THEY HAD PUT MY VEHICLE NUMBER ON THE COMPUTER. I ASKED HIM WHY DID HE ORDER ANOTHER ONE THAT I HAD ASKED THEM NOT TO ORDER ANOTHER ONE FOR ME AS THE FIRST ONE HAD A PROBLEM. I ASKED HIM WHY WOULD HE ORDER ANOTHER ONE WHEN I HAD ASKED THEM SPECIFICALLY NOT TO ORDER ANOTHER ONE. HE SAID THAT THEY HAD AND HE WASN'T GOING TO RETURN MY MONEY TO ME! ANOTHER THING I FOUND STRANGE IS THAT WHEN I ASKED THEM TO RETURN THE OLD PART TO ME THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T. SO, I TOLD THEM THAT I DIDN'T WANT THEM TO WORK ON MY CAR BECAUSE I DON'T TRUST THEM ANYMORE.
