The window fell down and when the regulator was replaced, the wire was stretched and twisted. I replaced the regulator with on off of another bonneville from a salvage yard cause a new part was over 300 dollars and aftermarket parts are not out yet. the Regulator installed 3 months ago did the same thing down came the window and yes the wire is stretched and all knotted. There is a defect in the regulators that Gm needs to take care of. I have seen other bonnevilles on the road that the owners had to tape their windows to keep them up. so there are more out there that is going unreported

I had a friend simply close the rear side driver door and the window dropped down and would not go back up. I removed the window regulator and found that the part was defective because a cable was held in place by a piece of plastic not more than an 1/8" thick. I went to the GM/Pontiac dealer and was told that the assembly alone would cost me ~$350 to purchase. This did not cover the cost of the labor. The good news is that I was able to find the part on eBay. If anyone is interested, I can send you the information to contact this guy and buy the part. The new part is higher quality as well. My main issue here is that GM should recall the part. I welcome working with anyone on here to try and force GM to work with this matter and stop ignoring it. I have also sent this information to my local news in hopes of getting them involved.
I have also called GM on this matter and I spoke with three individuals at the support center. I was told that they could not help me and that was the final word on the matter for GM. They were rude and incompetent and I have decided to NEVER buy a GM product again. I feel that to resolve this matter, GM should recall the product and replace ALL the window regulators in the vehicle. Let them eat the cost of a part that I feel was designed to fail.. Let's be real, if there wasn't an issue, why are the local service centers stocking the assembly in the first place and why does it cost $350 dollars. I'll tell you why, they expect that it will go bad and they want to rob the customer in repair services period!

When the back rear window went out that was upsetting. Then I saw another Bonneville with duck tape holding up the back window just like I had. Then 2 months later the other back window does the same thing. Then upon seeing everyones complaints I realize this is not an isolated problem and Pontiac needs to offer some assistance in getting these cars fixed. It costs on average 500 per window and with the comments I've seen I can expect all my windows to eventually go out.
