A Brand new car delivered in June 06. Has 240 km or 148 miles. Checking under the hood for the first time familarizing myself with engine compartment noticed a different style of block heater. Thought I'd check it out and discovered it loose in the block seal. Initially dealer said don't worry a different style of heater is being used. I insisted on them checking it out and comparing with several other new G6s on the lot. The car was immediately taken to service bay and the problem corrected by replacing the block heater.
The heater is visible from the back of the engine compartment passenger side. The heater should be firmly attached to the block with the seal. If you discover any movement it needs attention.
