(reported on)G6 GTP 3.9L V6
Well, I think I bought a lemon.... I purchased this vehicle and thought I researched my purchase very well. I bought it from what I thought was a reputable dealer etc and spent a good amount of money on the vehicle. I bought every option that I could and purchased the GTP model. I have had nothing but trouble with this vehicle.
I live in Canada and yes, it does get very cold in the winter. One night in particular it went down to minus 29 celcius and I decided I should probably plug in the block heater on the car. I went out to do this and to my surprise, no plug. I read the manual and it told me where the plug should be,,, not there. I pulled out all the information that I received when I bought the car and the manual from GM advised me that a block heater is standard on 2006 models...? Why does my car not have one?
Luckily, the car started in the morning and I took it to the dealer, who in turn looked at me like I was stupid and treated me like crap. Finally I phoned GM and they argued with me for 20 minutes on how it is impossible that my car does not have a block heater. Finally after dealing with the general manager at the dealer they determined that my car does not have one and installed one.
When I went to pick up the vehicle, they advised me that the engine has an oil leak with which they noticed when installing the block heater? How can a vehicle with 8000kms have an engine oil leak already. The service tech told me 'a seal gave out'. What a fluke? on my car... Be cautious people when purchasing this vehicle. I have a LONG list of problems I have been dealing with. It is still a great car to drive, but be VERY careful, looks can be deceiving.
