I bought this car in 2007 new. As I'm diving a squealing noise occurs. Sounds like a pig crying. They said it was my starter. They replaced the starter and it cost me $700.00. Went to pick up the car and the manager test drove it with me and the noise was still there. They took the car back and had it for 3 weeks. They can't find the problem. Gave me the car back and said drive it for a while. It's been a week and the noise is still there. So paying $700 for a starter did me no good. It's always something. Now they are taking the car back to see if they can find the problem. Sure let's see how much it will cost me this time. I can't understand the GM does not step up and research this problem. In the meantime my hard top convertible still makes loud noises from day one. All they say and do is tighten up the bolts. Now that the warranty has expired I'll have to pay for whatever they fix. Is this fair? I think NOT!! I'll have to live with it.

My Pontiac G6 Convertible began making a loud squealing noise when driving, it gets louder as I accelerate. I took it to the dealer where I was told it was my muffler and it would need to be replaced,I have heard that this is a common problem among the G6 which makes me wonder why it hasn't been recalled. I haven't had it fixed because I can not afford the price quoted to me 1200 the dealer acted like the noise was no big deal and it wouldn't hurt anything....REALLY? I think it's hurting my ears along with my embarrassment. I don't think anyone in the right mind buys a car on the premise that it will squeal like a ran over pig the whole time they drive it. This car costs far too much money to have to put up with that. GM shame on YOU!

G6 Convertible V6

My Pontiac G6 Convertible began making a loud squealing noise when driving, it gets louder as I accelerate. I had the brakes checked at Midas, they were fine. Since my vehicle was still warranted I took it to the dealer where I was told it was my muffler and it would need replaced. They stated that this is a common problem among the G6 which makes me wonder why it hasn't been recalled. I haven't had it fixed because I am now fighting with GM and the dealer because they say my warranty has expired but it hasn't. I now find out I have been frauded by the dealer I purchased my car from (Jack Walker Pontiac) because even though I bought it "new" out of the show room, it apparently had been titled before me. So I will have no resolution until I get that straightened out. I will post the outcome of the repair when I do. The dealer acted like the noise was no big deal and it wouldn't hurt anything....REALLY? I think it's hurting my ears along with my embarrassment. I don't think anyone in the right mind buys a car on the premise that it will squeel like a ran over dog the whole time they drive it. This car costs far too much money to have to put up with that. GM shame on YOU!

G6 GT 3.9L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,000 miles

We have a 2007 Pontiac G6 3.9L engine (bought brand-new) with 34,000 miles. The engine or exhaust makes a very very very loud, annoying, whining noise. Our local Pontiac dealer said it was "normal, that it was the tuned exhaust. I cannot accept this as being "normal" or accept that Pontiac purposefully designed this automobile to make this loud, annoying noise during acceleration. After filing a complaint with Pontiac/GM, the representative called the dealership and they told her the same thing. In the end, Pontiac/GM did nothing. They are trying to convenience me that a "two-headed" baby is normal ITS NOT NORMAL. This is a defect in the design of this vehicle. Dealerships have been scripted as to what to tell consumers. This is unacceptable. This car cost too much money. Pontiac/GM should be ashamed. FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
