When braking, the lights operate incorrectly. When the brakes are depressed, the lights are off and when the brakes are not pressed, the lights are on. Also when this occurs, the cruise controls fails to function. Also when this occurs, the brake must be depressed aggressively to shift out of park. This are the symptoms similar to service bulletin 10032206 / sb-08-05-22-009A.

When the 2007 Pontiac G6 is in drive the brake lights are indicated bright as if the brake pedal is being pressed. When the pedal is not pressed the brake lights are illuminated as if the pedal is being pressed. When the pedal is pressed to apply the brakes the brake lights go from bright to off indicating the brakes are not being applied when, in fact, they are.

Driving along at dusk and noticed that the chmsl was lit in the rear-view mirror. Stepped on brake pedal and chmsl went out. Drove another 200 feet and light went back on. Repeated sequence several times. Brake lights stay on and then go out when brake pedal is pushed.

I was getting into my car to drive home and when I put the key into the ignition and turned the car on, I noticed that my rear brake lights were on. I got out of the car to double check if they were really on or not. I then got back into the car and I pressed the brake pedal and the lights turned off. Ever since then, the car goes back and forth with this problem. When I am driving, the lights will come on as I accelerate and then when I press on the brake pedal the lights will come off.

A year ago during very hot weather in wi the cruise control would not work. After the heat subsided the cruise control worked again regularly. In the last couple weeks cruise control was not working again. Friends following me one day said my brake lights seemed to be on when driving and off when braking. A local mechanic replaced the stop light switch after receiving the code during a diagnostic test. I was informed he could not troubleshoot the cruise control problem and it would need to be seen by a dealer. This is very concerning if other drivers cannot see I'm braking when following. What is being done to remedy this problem that appears to be a nuisance for many others?

The brake pedal vibrates when disengaging the car out of park into drive; sometimes it is difficult to get the shifter out of park. The brake lights are constantly on while the car is moving. Then when the brake pedal is pushed, the brake lights turn off. The cruise control does not work either; I believe because the car thinks the brake pedal is being pushed. Updated 8/22/13 also, the cruise control would not engage. However, the light was on the steering wheel.

Brake lights worked intermittently. Sometimes when accelerating, the brake lights stay on and when actually braking, the brake lights go off. Sometimes the brake lights just permanently stay on. When the brake lights engage intermittently or permanently, the cruise control disengages. Had the brake pedal switch replaced and re-calibrated on numerous dates at shaheen GM in mount pleasant, mi. November of 2012, returned the vehicle to lunghamer GMC dealership where the car was purchased and had the entire brake sensor system replaced and re-calibrated. One month after the repair, the brake lights began working intermittently again. Took the vehicle to dagwood's in mount pleasant, mi where I was told that the problem was unfixable. Dagwood's claimed that they could replace the switch and re-calibrate again, but that there was no guarantee that the problem would not resume immediately after pulling it off the lot. This is a constant problem, in which I have been pulled over for a couple of times. However, it is not a matter of a simple "fix-it" ticket since there seems to be no possible repair. It is also very dangerous to be driving when the brake lights are not working properly. I have nearly been rear-ended on numerous occasions when I have been braking and the car behind me cannot tell because the brake lights do not go on. I have documentation of all of the times that I have brought the vehicle to the dealership in attempts to remedy this situation.

My passenger side low beam light went out. When I went to replace it, noticed that one side of the connector was melted. Went ahead and replaced the bulb anyways, but it will not work. Have been pulled over several times. From my research on how to fix this, I have come across countless others encountering the same problem from model years 2005-2009.

The front electrical port was being used by an MP3 player fm transmitter while the vehicle was off. The fm transmitter turned off, and after the car was left alone for a few minutes, smoke was coming out from the vehicle and it smelled of burnt plastic. Fm transmitter was removed and the negative battery cable was disconnected. The source of smoke was the rear trunk fuse block which had melted around the site of the front electric port fuse. Once smoke cleared, negative cable was reattached. After a couple minutes of checking car electrical from drivers seat, the fuse block was checked and a small fire had started. This was quickly put out and negative cable to battery disconnected again. Any remaining metal bits from electric port fuse were removed and once the negative cable was again reattached, no more smoke appeared. However, park lamps would not turn off, car did not know trunk was closed, the left rear turn signal did not work (even though it lit up when park lamps were left on). Other random buttons on driver control panel did not work (rear defrost, but fuse was fine).

Back in June 2012 I noticed the low beam headlight on the right was out so I took it into the local shop for repair. The shop replaced both bulbs. Approximately four to five months later I noticed the same bulb was out again and took the same actions. I replaced the bulb. Around February 2013 I noticed the bulb was working intermittently and flickering on and off. The light would not come on during normal operation so I would pop the headlight casing. At that point the light would come on but after driving a few miles I noticed the light was off again! at this point I have just started driving with my high beams just to ensure I was able to see because I live in a rural area. I recently received two traffic citations for using the high beams and driving with faulty equipment. I have read several online posts that gave the impression that others are experiencing similar problems with the low beams on their G6 vehicles. Is there some sort of recall on these bulbs or the wiring that the bulbs stream into? if yes, please, please advise. I don't want to have to keep changing these bulbs every six months and having to pay labor. I also don't want to run the risk of getting citations just because I have to use the high beams to compensate because of the faulty standard low beams.

While driving down the road I came to a stop when traffic ahead of me began to slow down. I was at a dead stop when a car came sliding past me in the gravel to the right of me. When we got to the stop sign the driver of that vehicle informed me that my brake lights were inoperative. I found this hard to believe considering I had just purchased the vehicle a month prior. About a week later I had a car honk at me and yell over to me that I had no brake lights when coming to a stop. When you start the car, you can walk around the back of the car and see that the brake lights are on, with nobody even in the car. I have followed my girlfriend while she was driving the car and they function the exact opposite way that they should, the brake lights are on the whole time you are driving and when coming to a stop the lights go out completely and do not return on until you begin accelerating again. I have had the brake pedal position sensor replaced, calibrated and it did cure the problem for a month or so, then the problem returned. Next I had the "fix" for the BCM connector performed, the dielectric grease did nothing. So now the problem remains, everyday people ride right on my bumper and I fear that an accident can come of this, and GM needs to find a fix for this and recall these vehicles asap.

I was driving my 2007 G6 when someone pulled up beside me and honked their horn to get my attention. The man informed me that my brake lights were on while I was driving but turned off when I went to brake for the red light. I took my car to be fixed at a shop near my home, he replaced the sensor in the brake pedal. When I left his shop it worked perfectly fine. Working fine only last about 8 months when I noticed the reflection of my brake lights in traffic signs when I wasn't pushing on the brake I realized I once again was having the same issue. Since I have left that first shop in 2010, I have taken my G6 to 2 different shops within the last 3 years paying upwards of $500 to get the same issue resolved each time. The last time I took my car to the GMC dealership (2 weeks ago); they informed me that I have been there in June of 2011, September of 2012 and now June of 2013. The head technician told me he "has no idea what the issue is". he unplugged everything and plugged it all back in and they worked fine but the issue is obviously not resolved.

While driving my 2007 Pontiac G6 GT sedan I had someone flag my attention. He said that my brake lights were on while I was driving and shut off when I was actually braking at a stop light. Also, the cruise control was no longer in operation during this period of time. I had the brake switch replaced on my car. The problem still occurred at random. I have also been stuck in a few parking lots not being able to shift my car out of park. I had to re start my car several times and wait for a prolonged period before the car was able to shift to reverse so I could leave. I was alone in the dark on a snowy night for 30 minutes in a deserted parking lot the first time it happened. The brake light malfunction comes and goes throughout the years subsiding for a short periods of time but then returns at any given moment. This spring, the problem has returned non-stop and I have again, been flagged down by 3 other drivers to inform me of my brake lights being on while driving and going off when actually braking. I have also been followed too close by many drivers and cut off in traffic several times. The problem with the rear brake lights going on and off at the wrong times has been causing this type of road rage to be aimed at me and I feel it is putting me and my passengers in danger. In addition, I am unable to use my cruise control on the car due to the rear brake lights malfunction. I feel this problem with the brake lights is seriously dangerous and could easily cause an accident by sending the wrong signals to drivers who are driving behind this vehicle.

Then it begin with my signal light being defected to where it doesn't automatically switch off with turning, and then now it pops up on the display the word power steering, where then the wheel locks up at any given time and speed making it extremely difficultly to manage driving, turning, and switching lanes.

My 2007 Pontiac G6 has repeating brake light illuminating issues.(reverse of normal functioning). For almost two years (2011) the vehicles brake lights illuminate while the brake is not applied. The brake lights are on/illuminated while driving at all speeds and actually stop illuminating when the brake is applied. This has been happening consistently in warm and cold weather, rainy and dry weather. I have taken the vehicle to the local GM dealership here in columbus oh and had the issue repaired costing $100 which solved the problem for approximately 9-12 months (2012). The issue recurred after the repair was no longer covered under the dealerships repair warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles. In the last 6 months (Jan - June 2013) in addition, I have experienced malfunctions with my cruise control, as well as unable to get the car to move from park into any other gear for as much as up to 30 mins, leaving me stuck and stranded, also when applying my foot to the brake pedal it feels like there's no padding or like there's air in the line, as well as a vibration. I am extremely concerned for my family's safety as well as the safety of other drivers as I could be very easily be rear ended at any given moment while driving on the road. I have experienced vehicles running up closely behind me as there was no indication I was slowing. Not only have I experienced this problem, but a handful of times I have also seen other 2007 G6 on local roadways with illuminating brake lights during acceleration. Again I am extremely concerned and hope that with your help GM will recognize and expedite this issue as it is a very serious and urgent matter and attempt to provide me as a owner the steps to ensure safety. Thank you

I was pulled over by good samaritans to let me know my brake lights were on while driving but completely off when in use. After research on internet this is highly common in these cars. I found a fix online until I was pulled over again by good samaritans. I am 7 months pregnant with two small children in this vehicle I have no way to know if they are working or not unless my father does a brake check some days they work some days they don't. this to me is highly dangerous for consumers that don't realize this is a common problem in this vehicle. I called my dealership but they are not quite sure what is wrong with it. Is it going to take a pregnant women to get rear ended or for someone to die before this brake light issue is resolved. This is scary and dangerous.

Driving on thehighway with the cruise on. The cruise control shut off and brake lights were illuminated withouth depressing the brake pedal. When the brake pedal was engaged the brake lights turned off. I have replaced the brake light switrch, fuses, added dieelectric grease to the nodes, removed the battery to reset the computer system. The problem will be fixed temporarily and then start again. This is incredibly unsafe. Please extend the recall to models newer than 2005. This is obviously a major issue that needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt. GM need to fix this issue with their vehicles.
