While vehicle is parked, noticed there is a strong scent of fuel emitting from the vehicle. It's possible it has crack and/or fuel leak. I've checked under the vehicle and did not find any puddle of leak but the smell of fuel is strong and with a full tank of fuel, it disappears faster than the norm. The Pontiac G5 had this same issue and was recalled but it needs to be extended to earlier models as well.

While driving the vehicle at 50mph the front end shook violently the A/C then went from cold to hot and then the car would not allow acceleration and the power steering went out. It continued to happen multiple times in a 10 minute drive to work. Then again on the way home. This can cause a accident if not fixed. I noticed that there was a recall for this but my VIN says no open recalls. Can you assist me with this issue?

Vehicle has an extremely strong fuel smell around the vehicle at all times. This smell started about a year ago and has gotten progressively worse. The vehicle can't even be parked in the garage for fear of the gas water heater nearby causing the fumes to ignite. The gas smell especially fills the trunk compartment and even sometimes smells inside the vehicle itself causing us to roll the windows down. I have been researching this for several months and found many 2007/2008 G6 owners have the same issue which is a cracked plastic supply or return port on the fuel pump module. There is a recall for the G5 fuel pump issues of the same years...I even live in one of the states mentioned in the G5 recall where this issue is seen. The G5 recall even states "consequence:fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire".

I noticed a strong gas odor coming from my vehicle and even inside my vehicle when I was parked. I thought it was the gas I had put into the tank the previous day. However, with my car parked in the garage at my home, the gas smell became overwhelming. I took my vehicle into the dealership for maintenance and they informed me that the fuel pump needed replacing and notified me of the cost. I contacted Pontiac and they called the dealership on conference call to clarify for me what was needed. On the call (with Pontiac on the line) the dealership explained that a plastic piece of the fuel pump was cracked and could not be replaced separately so that is why I had to pay to replace the entire fuel pump. This defect is exactly what is listed in the recall on the Pontiac G5 2007-2009 and I find it no coincidence that the same issue has occurred on my vehicle and I'm sure countless others who just aren't aware to file a complaint.

Excessive fuel/gas smell coming from outside the car (08 Pontiac G6). Took it to the dealer, the problem is the fuel pump. Airtex re-called fuel pumps sold in 2013, and there is also a recall for other GM cars and SUV's for the same problem (small crack on top of the fuel pump). In an event of a crash the car can catch on fire, there should be an investigation and the Pontiac G6 fuel pumps should be recalled, obviously there is a design problem/material used on the fuel pump that is the problem.

Husband and I were notified that there is a leak in the fuel pump. In researching, I see that there has been an ongoing issue with the fuel pump associated with Pontiac G6's for the 2008 model year. This would explain why we have smelled gas off and on since we purchased the car, but when examined by mechanic, nothing was found. If there is a defect in the air tex fuel pump used in the manufacturing of the 2008 G6's, then why was there no recall issued. I think this is a flagrant disregard for public safety and negligence.

Driving and suddenly engine light came on, across the radio it said engine power reduced and service traction. It would barely accelerate. It has done this twice in a week. Then after a while the engine light goes off and it will seem ok. At stops though, the car seems very shaky, feeling like it will stall, but hasn't yet!!!

Fuel line assembly..... smelled raw gas after a brief park in my garage. Kept smelling gas, only to learn that the fuel line assembly has a crack in it. I took the car to 2 different mechanics and they both said that this "is a common problem on the Pontiac G6". from what I was told, the assembly housing is made of plastic, and it is common that it cracks on this type of vehicle. This is a very expensive repair, costing in upwards of $800.
