On a clear day, traveling on a local hwy, check airbag light came on, stayed on. I have been asking other owners if they have the same problem. I was told the airbag won't deploy if that light is on. That scares the hell out of me! now the seat belt light is on because I moved the drivers seat forward. That is intermittent. Please, find the right person to declare this worthy of a recall. One person dying because of this is one person too many. Airbags and seat belts are our only safety in a car. If we don't have that, the cars should be taken out of service by the manufacturer, and the owner reimbursed.

Just acquired the 2008pontiac G6 for my son. Learning there were 2 open recalls on it. Called local GM service center and had them done. Now a seat belt light for the drivers side pops on upon starting the car, driving the car and only goes off when the car is turned off. There's a light for the drivers side airbag that stays on. It is on when you start the car, it's on when you drive the car, in town and the highway, it only goes off when the car is turned off. A new battery was added to the car, and new serpentine belt. I have a vapor lock issue today. Please tell me this car will protect my son if an accident happens. The air bag issue worries me. I purchased the car with about 114000 miles on it. The airbag light was on but no indication as to why it is on. It has never been in an accident according to reports. I had service complete the 2 outstanding recalls on the car. I also replaced the front brakes only to take it back a week later and replace the driver side caliper also. The other day while driving home, I experienced vibrating in my brakes when braking. At that time no ABS light came on or tc control lights, however when hubby was getting ready to test drive it, the ABS light and both tc lights came on and have stayed on. Brakes are working fine at the moment, I took it to a service center and checked for additional recalls (because I read about one on this issue somewhere the other day when searching) but they assured me there are no recalls for such an issue with my VIN. The car currently only has 123,000 miles on it. My next step I guess is to take it to advance auto for a scan and see if anything shows up :( I do a lot of travelling so I need a dependable/reliable/safe vehicle. I love the car but I don't love all the brake issues and not knowing why the airbag light is on. I have put nearly $1000 into my car in just a matter of months due to breaks and exhaust system.

The passenger side air bag "off" light is showing on the instrument panel. The car has not been involved an an accident that would cause this light to come on. We have never turned the passenger side air bag to the "off" position either. It just came on one day. The dealer said it is common in some GM vehicles. No recall has been issued. I hope I don't have to witness a passenger injury in my vehicle because the air bag will not deploy. As I understand it, the air bag will not deploy during an accident because it has malfunctioned in the passenger seat bottom. I believe GM should make a passenger air bag safety recall a priority.

On 05/11/16 at approximately 5:49 pm, this 2008 Pontiac G6, while traveling in a forward direction on a public road and in dry surface conditions, moderate temperatures, was brought to a rapid stop due to changing traffic conditions. The driver was restrained via the seat belt. Four seconds later, this 2008 Pontiac G6 was struck in the rear by a 2005 Pontiac vehicle traveling at moderate speed and possible driver inattention. Significant rear, frontal, underside and side areas of both vehicles were damaged. Both vehicles were not drivable and were towed from the accident scene to a secure lot. The 2008 Pontiac G6 airbags did not inflate upon impact or thereafter. The 2005 Pontiac airbags(2) did inflate and also suffered a passenger side broken front windshield. The occupants and one canine in one and or both vehicles did suffer unknown injuries. The 2008 Pontiac G6 had beed serviced up to and including within one year by a GM dealership for various recalls and over the history of the vehicle.

Faulty passenger airbag sensor for no reason the air bag light comes on and after about a week it now stays on all the time. I read on line in the GM car forums this has been a major problem. I noticed most 05-09 GM models that are equipped with this type of sensor. People noted the fix is $500 to $1000 and must be done by the dealer. I like many other GM owners would like to think a properly working air bag is a safety issue. Apparently this air bag sensor is a poor design and should be recalled! thank you

2008 pont G6 service airbag light appears in dash, and display on radio periodically. Typically right on startup. Doesn't turn off until key off, regardless of how long or type of driving. Usually (but not always) resets when engine off and restart. Discussion with dealer and online forums all say passenger side seat sensor is bad. Concerned if driver and/or passenger airbags will actually deploy in event of emergency, whether light is on or not.
