I am also having the problem of not getting it into gear. It has only happened 5 times since I have owned my car. All of them has been in the past 3 months. I have not have had my transmission flushed because I was warned that it might mess up my car. I don't have a problem getting it out of park before I drive it. It gets stuck in reverse and won't go up to park when I'm done driving a short or long distance.

had transmission flushed - dealers recommendation - no problems with transmission - when car was returned and went to start it the next morning - car would not go into gear - had to wait 10 minutes for car to warm up before transmission would engage. Prior to taking the car into the dealership I was NOT experiencing any problems but now I am.

I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am that will not shift into gear until the car has run for about ten minutes. Once it warms up and it actually goes into gear it works fine. The fluid level is okay. Before the transmission actually shifts, you can feel a slight bump when shifting into drive or reverse, but stepping on the accelerator does nothing.
